Page 2- May 6, 1964 <br />Mr. Leonard reported a meeting of the Pub'.Lic Utilities Ca}nmittee was held on April <br />28th with Council as a whole. They are requesting that the Mayor be given authority <br />to enter into a eontract with the City of Cieveiand for water. <br />Mre Mangani reported the City Planning Cotnmittee met April 28th after the meeting <br />on water. They discussed the gublic heai-ing on Dewey Road rezoning, The developer <br />indieated that with a view to eliminating the traffic hazard, he was negotiating <br />for an access to Lorain, either through the Hi.xson property or the Bente-Lewis <br />property, and he will a,lso pay up to $500 for installation of a stop light at <br />Dewey and Lorain to alleviatp, the tra£fic problem thexe now and in the future. <br />The committee recommends that final action on the reaoning be deferred until the <br />developer reports on the results of his nE;gotiations for direct access to Lorain, <br />The Planning Commission was requested to; €urniSh metes and bounds on the Hi-Rise <br />district to the Planning Committee, to be turned over to the Engineer for checking <br />and preparation of a map. These have been received, and are being turned over to <br />the Engineer. <br />On the Deerfield Estate Subdivision No. 3, it has been found that on the improvement <br />plat, the wording shows _25-fQOt walks and storm drainage easement. This sesms <br />to be in error as far as the word "sidewal.ks", and the matter will be checked out <br />with the engineer who prepared the plat tc) see what the intention was. <br />The Gommittee is submitting the new platti.ng ordinance tonight. <br />President 0'Neill asked at this point that the Council deviate from its regular <br />order of business to hear fxom residents who were present to di.9cuss the matter <br />of a proposed swimming pool in Foreat Ridg;e, Motion seconded by Mr, Leonard. <br />"Yeas" HQdgins, Leonard, Limpert, ivl8ngani, Van Zandt, West. . <br />Various residents of the Forest Ridge area, voiced their opposition to the prdposed <br />pool, , and a petition signed by some 170 residents of the area was presented <br />to Council, requesting that their grotests be heard by Council. <br />Mr. W. A. Wardwell, 5282 Berkshire, explained about the proposed pool, and the <br />meetings that have been called for discussion. <br />In answer to a question as to what the ma?ter is doing before Council, President <br />0'Neill explainEd that the citizens are anxious to discuss the pros and cons on <br />the matter of the swimming pool, although Council is not involved •until a build- <br />ing permit is issued. At that time both $ides will be nQtified simultaneously, <br />Mr. Anthony will be notified as gpokesman for those residents opposed to the pool. <br />At thfs point, President 0'Neill declared a five minute recess while the audience <br />who were present for the pool discussion toQk their leave, <br />The Law Director reported on the question proposed last meeting with regard to the <br />status of OrdinanGe 62-226. He would recorntnend to Gauneil that they can act on it <br />if they wish after a third reading, <br />The Clerk read a letter from the Kiwanis Club o£ North Olmsted aslcing that Saturday <br />June 13th be proclaimed as All Scouts" Day. <br />Mr. Mangani moved that since we were awaiting final information from the developer <br />re access to Lora?n, that the pote on Ordiizance 64-63 be postponed to a date certain, <br />next Council meeting on May 19th, The motion was seGonded by Mr, Van Zandt, "Yeas" <br />Mangani, Van Zandt, West, "No" Hodgins, I,iaonard, Limpert, Since there was a tie <br />vote, President 0'Neill cast his vote to brpak the tie and vpted "no". Motion was <br />defeated. <br />
