It per- <br />tains to the pay of plain clothes detectives, in part. <br />Mr. Van Zandt, Chairman of the Legislative Committee, reported his committee met <br />on Saturday, June 6th with Gity Engineer Labas, the Board af Building Code <br />Appeals, and Mr. Gundy, Building Commissioner, to review a draft of an ordinance <br />establishing minimum requirpments fc>r swimming pools within the city. The draft, <br />with various changes and modifications made during the meeting, has been submitted <br />to the Law Director for approval and conversion into final form. It covers all <br />phases of design, construeti.or, and maintenance of swi.mming paols, public, semi- <br />public and private. <br />An ordinance relating to set.ting finished building grades was reviewed by the <br />committee and will be reported on at thle next counr_il meeting. <br />Engineer Labas reported that sidewalk plans, specifications and an estimate of <br />cost is on file at City Hall, They has been approved by the Planning Commission <br />and is now being submitteci to Cvuncil for consideration, <br />Mr. Caster, Chairman o£ the public Serv:Cce and Development Committee, reported <br />they met twice last Z'hursday evening, 7'he second time was ta hold a discussion <br />with residents of Stearns and ?vIeKenzie, the residents who have recently received <br />notices about constructiUn of sidewalks., About twenty-twn were present, The <br />Law Director's brief on sidewalks was read to the audience. John West presented <br />a safety report on the area, notxng accidents that have happened within a recent <br />period. He also re.viewed a report from the National Safety Council. The Engineer <br />reported on the approxfmate ccsf per lineal foot - about $3.46. Last year's <br />sidewalk construction cost average.d out at $3.53 per lineal foot. There were a <br />few comments from people wh<s had attendE:d the last council meeting. The dead- <br />line of June 13 for obtaining building permits couldn't be changed at the committee <br />meeting. Some of the geople who askEd schould be notified - they will have thirty <br />days after receipt of Nr,t ice to C'onstruct from the Clerk of Council to construct <br />their sidewalks. <br />At the 7:30 meeting of the Public Servic.e and Development Committee, they discussed <br />the sanitary sewer censtzltant`5 report an the possible expansion of the sanitary <br />, sewer system.
