,1 <br />November 17, 1964 - Page 2 <br />Mr. Labas also reported his report on the sanitary sewer inspectionprogram is <br />complete and copies of it will be sent to the Mayor the end of the week. <br />The Engineer requested the Legislative Committee to consider an ordinance <br />which would require that all construction in the City be done in accordance <br />with approved plans. Under present laws it is cumbersome to impose compliance <br />with approved plans, and the only way to stop a job is to remove the inspector <br />from the site and then the contractor can be cited for constructing improvements <br />not in the presence of an inspector, since there are no permits to revoke. He <br />feels there should be a penalty if a contractor does not stop when told. <br />Mr. Labas reported there has been a request for release of the sidewalk bond <br />on Revere Drive, Beverly Hills Park Estates Subdivision #1. It seems to be <br />in good order and he requests legislation to release the bond. <br />Mr. Kitehen, Director of Law, advised that on November 9 we received a defense <br />verdict in matter filed in 1959, which he has been trying since February of <br />this year, <br />Mr, Gerlach, Director of Finance reported that Council has received a written <br />summary of the work of the Board of Equalization. He has nothing to add. <br />Mrs. Hodgins reported the Safety Committee will meet Friday evening of this <br />week on November 20th at 8:00 P.M. <br />Mr. Foltz reported the Legislative Committee met November llth. Safety-Service <br />Director Limpert and Lieut. Biddulph who were present at the meeting requested <br />legislation setting a fee of $10 to cover the cost of a police escort for over- <br />size loads traveling through the city, when the police are called for this <br />service. The Committee agreed unanimously with their request. <br />The Legislative Committee also agreed to recommend that legislation be drawn <br />to require the installation of a grease interceptor by food establishments. <br />The change of title recommended by the Safety-Service Director, from Street Com- <br />missioner to Superintendent of Public Works, to conform to the duties actualiy <br />performed, was recommended and will be submitted for the drawing of legislation. <br />Mr. Limpert, Chairman of the Transportation reported he has received figures <br />from the Safety-Service Director pertaining to the bus mechanics' wages, and <br />would like to arrange a joint meeting with the Finance and Transportation Com- <br />mitties to go over these figures. <br />Mr. West, Chairman of the Finance Committee, reported his committee recommends <br />that legislation be drawn creating the position of Assistant Law Director at a <br />salary of $3,600 a year. The committee is of the opinion the city will save <br />money under this plan, and it will help expedite legal matters. <br />The Finance Committee also agreed to the transfer of funds, a copy of which has <br />been furnished all members of Council. The committee is still considering the <br />matter of radios and mobile telephones for the Service Department, and it will <br />be reported on at the next council meeting. <br />Mr, Mangani, Chairman of City Planning Committee, reported that on November 5th <br />he met with Mr, West, Fire Chief Bement, Del Limpert, Norman Musial, C. 0. <br />Fischer, Leslie Macs, Sparky DiBenedetto, Ted DeWerth, Dewey Limpert, Jim Prokasy, <br />
