September 20, 1966 - Page 2 Ordlnances, Section 1331m03, as fo(lows; The Building Copnmissioner, wiws advise the owner of candemned property that he has the r-ight to appeal the condemnation order to the Board of Building Code Appeals wfthen fifteen (151 days of the date of the letter> They reviewed the matter of prohibiting the construction af inetal buiIdings, along the lines of legis.lafion in effect in Fairview Parko The Commitfiee is of the opinton that such a prohibition would curtail curtaln-wall constructPOn, which is masonry and steel with metai inserts, and feels that no action shou!d be taken. The Committee recommends that the Police Oepartment 'Tabfe of Organization be revised by adding a sergeant- to the Detective Bureaue The recommendation is referred to the Finance CommYttee for study. The Committee is currently studying the possfbitity of changing the ordinance authorizing the Building Commissioner to renew permits for large signs adver- tising subdivistons. They will consider it furthern Mr. Foltz also repot-ted that Mr. Gundy had requested that Urdinance 2445 (the o!d Zoning Ordinance) Page 3, Section V be compared with the present ordinance,, This would be a matter to be consldered by the Design and Platting Committee< The 5afefiy-Service Director requested that the sergeant for the Police Depart- ment not be limited to the Detective Bureau specifically. Mr, Eian, Chairman of the Safety, Heaith and Welfare Commit-hee reported that at -Fheir last meeting on September 15, 1966, they considered the foilowing: 1. The possibilfty of instaliing atraffic SIghBI at St. Brendan Schooi. While a study of a sPgnal layout for the area is being made, the schooi guard is ta be relocated, and school safei-y patrol guards loca-Fed at Gessner. 2. The possib(iity ofi banning parking on both sides of Brendan Lane, Michael Avenue, David Drive, etc., where parking on both sides of the streets is resuit- ing in partial blocking of the streets and ls a sefety hazardo More study on this is recommended. 3. A request -ho make Andrus Avenue a"play sfi reet". The committee recommends that this not be done. 4. Fines for parking tickets. It is recommended that IegPslation speliing out specific fines for parking violations be passed, with $3.00 for violation in regular "no parking" zones and $5.00 ?ior violat-ion in fire lanes being suggesteda 5. Control of truck traffic on Loraln Road. The overtaking and passing of ofiher moving vehicles by trucks was discussed, but needs further study before any action ?
