The request was referred to the Mayor.
Mr. Limpert, Chairman of the Transportation Committee, reported on their meeting
held April 15th. The City's bus contract with Fairview Park will expire on June
30th, and negotiations are being started. Wage increases for Carl Truffin and
C. Best were discussed, and referred to the Finance Committee. The Committee
also is recommending that the pay ordinance be amended to increase the starting
pay for a new driver to $2.50 per hour.
Mr. West, Chairman of the Finance Committee, reported on their meeting held April
18. Present were Henry Caster, Dewey Limpert, William Gerlach, Alexander Mangani
and John West. They discussed the Mayor's suggestion that the City have a package
insurance policy rather than three separate policies, as at present. The Committee
recommends that legislation be drawn authorizing the Mayor to advertise for bids
for such a package insurance policy for the entire city.
After discussing methods of raising approximately $30,000, the amount needed for
the sewer laterals on Canterbury north of Lorain, the Committee recommends that
the City's bonding power be used to go ahead with these laterals.
The Committee recommends that the City contribute $200 toward the fireworks display
on July 4th.
The Committee recommends the foilowing salary range in the Bus Department: Manager
of the Bus Line, $7,000 to $8,000 a year; Operations Supervisor, $6,000 to $7,000;
Maintenance Supervisor, $6,500 to $7,300. The Law Director advised that since
a new position is being established, that of Manager, the Legislation Committee
should review the recommendation.
The Finance Committee recommends purchase of a one-ton truck for the Sewage Treatment
Plant, and will request legislation.
The Committee discussed purchase of an all-purpose vehicle for the Fire Department,
and a new fire truck, but at present there are no monies available for this equip,
ment in the Safety Department.
Mr. Mangani, Chairman of the Design and Platting Committee, reported that on March
28th the committee was prepared to recommend approval of Sandy Ridge Subdivision
No. 3, but the developer requested that it be held up. They are now prepared to
go along with the preliminary plat, as approved by the Planning Commissian, and
will recommend that Council approve it.
