They rev ' ewsd,-th&°poss-l ble need- for a <br />traffic lighfi at West 237th, in anticipation of a high sehool to de consfiructed <br />there in the near future. The general traffic situation on Lorain was aiso <br />discussed. <br />The problem of trucks parking in driveways in resfiden-tial areas overnight was <br />again dfscussed, and a survey wili be made of the ne-iqhborinq commanities for <br />their restrictions on this. <br />Other items discussed for- future possible action by the Cormnittee were a <br />no truck passing ordinance; training school for school guards; ofif-duty <br />policemen in unifiorm performing work outside the-ir nor°mai datles; the cast <br />of additional street lights for the entire city, by a fiax levy; the hazard <br />of the large maple firee on Butternut Ridge, ana a reviear:of the Compu;sory <br />Retir°ement Ordinance. Also discussed was the Mayor's.reque-st.that srnndardiza- <br />t i on of s i ze the I ocat i on of house t. umbe.fis-be: eons.i d&red; add 6 t i ona i rire eq,: F prnen* <br />which wiil be needed within the next few years; and a study by Police Chyef <br />Hird and Safety-Service-Dit-ector Limpert of the Eity trafific contro4s and signs. <br />Mr. West, Chairman of the Finance Committee-, rep?r-t&d on meefiinqs held by his <br />committee February Sfih and 9th. They reviewed- the, I966 budget for presentation <br />fio Council. They also recommend pay adjustments in the Reereation Departmenr. <br />They recommend drawinq legislation to estabiish fihe°position of Assistanl <br />Secretary 1n the Finance Director's office. They also will request establish- <br />ment of petty cash funds for the Police and Fire Departments in the amount of <br />$50 each, and an increase in the petty cash fund handled by the Mayor's Secre-tary <br />from $25 to $50. They recommend that legislation be drawn canceilinq the side- <br />walk assessment for Charles Cuilen on Fleharty, which was made in error. it is <br />also recommended that legislation be prepared for proceedinq wi-th the purchase <br />of p roperty for a th i rd f i re sfiafi i on . <br />Mr. W111iam Minek, 5503 Whltehaven pr-esented a petition to the Clerk, signed by <br />residents of the Garden City Allotment, protesting the proposed sidewalk Enstalla- <br />tion in that area. It was turned over to Mr. Caster, Chalrman of the Municipal <br />Development Committee. Mr. Caster advised that he would scheduie a meeting of <br />the School Board, interested members of Council and the residents on the streets <br />represented, at which time the matter will be discussed. Residents will be <br />advised of the time and place of the meeting. <br />Mr. Howard Childs, 5988 Columbia Road, questioned the proposed rerouting of <br />State Route 252. He was advised by the Mayor that a chanqe in the route in the <br />area of Lorain Road has been approved by the-Planning Comm.ission, and after it <br />is approved by Council, they wiil request that the Stafis hold a public hearing <br />on the rerouting. At that time representatives of fihe State Highway Dep8rtmemt <br />will be present to explain their choices, and hear objections. <br />Mr. Mangani is now present.
