. N.. _ iK <br />MINUTES OF MEETING OF" THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />? NOVEMBER 14, 1965 <br />8:04 P.M. <br />Present: Mayor Ralph E. Christman; President of Council Francis J. 0'Neill; <br />Henry Caster; Jack Foltz; Virginia Hodgins; Dewey Limpert; Alex Mangani; John <br />West. <br />Absent: James Leonard. <br />Also present: J. Bruce Kitchen, Law Director; W, Z. Gerlach, Finance Director; <br />Del Limpert, Safetq-Service Director; Richard Labas, City Engineer; Margaret West, <br />Clerk. <br />Minutes of the meeting of November 3rd were approved as read. <br />Mayor Christman reported he met with the County Commissioners on November 4th <br />regarding the widening of Dover Road at Lorain, and they agreed to pay 750/o of <br />the cost of the improvement, with the City paying the remaining 25%. Construction <br />is expected in the spring. <br />Saf ety-Service Director Limpert asked for authority to advertise for the following: <br />tires and tubes for the automotive equipment of the City for 1966; recapping of <br />tires for the automotive equipment of the City for 1966; Packer type truck for <br />garbage and rubbish pickup, costing approximately $12,000 to $14,000; pick-up <br />truck for the Sewage Treatment Plant, to cost approximately $2,000; all-purpose <br />station wagon for the Fire Department, to be used for ambulance and fire prevention <br />work, costing approximately $3,000; and a new car for the Superintendent of Public <br />WOrks, <br />Mr, Labas reported on recommendations made as to the odor problem at the Sewage <br />Treatment Plant, They are as follows: development of a plan to install the <br />chlorinator from the Park Ridge package plant at some upstream location, when <br />the package plant is abandoned sometime in the spring; installation of a burner <br />over the manhole near the comminutor area of the Treatment Plant; publicizing of <br />the steps being taken so that the affected citizens are aware that the city is <br />taking every reasonable step to reduce the problem to acceptable levels. <br />Mrs, Hodgins, Chafrman of the Safety Committee, reported that in addition to the' <br />» ,matters in their minutes furnished to all council members, the Committee is <br />?trying to work out a pedestrian crossing between Columbia and Clague on Lorain. <br />Mr, Caster, Chairman of the Public Service and Development Committee, reported <br />i they met twice for a di.scussion of Bretton Ridge #4, and recommend that the <br />legislation which they had prepared to accept the improvement plans be passed <br />on emergency so that construction can proceed. The recomnendatiotts of the <br />Regional Planning Commission are being worked out with the County Comtnissioners and <br />the Olmsted Township Trustees, <br />The Committee also discussed the City Line Subdivision improvement plans, and <br />will meet with the developers regarding ditch relocation and to see if arrange- <br />ments can be made for culverting the east-west ditch.
