r <br />i <br />MINU"TES OF THE MEETING OF 'THE GOUNCIL <br />OF TIIE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />Octmber 5, 1965 <br />8 : 00 P.M. <br />Present: Mayor Ralph E. Christman, Presiderat of Coa.ncil F. J. 0'Neill, 3ack <br />Foltz, Virginia Hodgins, James Leonard, Dewey Limpert, A. L. Mangani, John <br />West, <br />Absent: Henry Caster, <br />Also present: Director of Law J, Bruce Kitchen, Director of Finance W. L. Gerlach, <br />Safety-Service Director Del Limpert, Engineer Richard Labas, Margaret West, Clerk, <br />Minutes of the meeting of September 21st were, apprmved as read. <br />Minutes of the special meeting of September 22nd were approved as read. <br />Safety-Service Director Del Limpert recommended that the Traffic Control Map <br />be amended so that eastbound traffi.c in the right lane must turn from Lorain <br />into the west drive of Great Northern Shopping Center. <br />He also announced that the City had received a Pedestriaii Safety Award for 1964. <br />Mrs. Hodgins, Chairman of the Safety Committee, reported on information contained <br />in a traffic survey made by the Cleveland Aut:amobile Cluxb of the Burns, Decker, <br />Porter, Butternut Ridge and Lorain Areas. She a3so reviewed some suggestions <br />made by the Schaol Board to help sobve the prc>blem. <br />Mr, West, Chairman of the Finance Committee, reported that the Law Director had <br />commented on legislation requested at the last meeting. The matter of spending <br />$2,000 for the Southern Avenue storm sewer still needs work dore on it by the <br />Public Improvement Committee. With regard to the request for $3,00 per hour pay <br />for firemen working as blasting inspectors, the Law Directar advised that this <br />duty comes within the regular duties of the F"ire Department, and payment of $3,00 <br />per hour would be improper since it would authorize pay i.n addition to the firemen's <br />wages. <br />It was suggested by Mr. Leonard that legislation be drawn making a rate of $3.00 <br />payable to both police and firemen for off-diity work, <br />Mr. Mangani, Chairman of Publie Parks, Property and Recreation, reported that the <br />committee feels that the City should get two appraisals an the Summerland property <br />before making any decision as to selling. <br />As Chairman of the City Planning Committee, 1Kr. Mangani reported recefving a <br />recommendation from the Planning Commission that we hire the Regional Planning <br />Commission to do the work on our Master Plan> The City PYanning Committee concurs, <br />and legislation will be requested. The cost will be $24,500, and it will be com- <br />pleted in two years. Our cost will be 1/3 of the total, or $8,166, with the <br />
