1 <br />1 <br />July 20, 1965 - Page 2 <br />Mr. West, Chairman, reported the Finance Committee met Qn July 12th <br />for a discussion of pay raises. No decision has been made. They are <br />continuing to have meetings. <br />Mr. Mangani, Chairman, City Planning Committee, reported they had no <br />off icial meetings. However, he was asked to appear before the Planning <br />as to Council's feelings on rezoning Lorain Road. A telephone survey <br />was suggested as a means of obtaining the property owners' feelings. <br />'£he Planning Commission brought up the matter of funds to make a survey, <br />since they have expended their available funds on Regional Planning. <br />It was suggested they make a study of their financial needs for the <br />coming year, <br />Mr. Joseph Simmons, 29603 Lorain Road, reported that interested property <br />owners have been running a survey along Lorain from MacKenzie to the <br />power line, and have better than 75% of the people's names on the <br />petition already, as being opposed to the proposed change in zoning. <br />He was advised to take the petition to the Planning Commission who are <br />presently making the survey. <br />Mr. Simmons also questioned who would control the swimming pool if it <br />becomes reality - the school board? the City? <br />Mrs. Martha Hogue, 26995 Butternut Ridge, asked for some traffic safety <br />measures to be taken at Butternut Ridge and Fitch, She suggested a <br />blinking light or a three-way stop, and also requested crosswalk <br />lines before the children start back to schoo? and strict enforcement <br />of the speed laws. <br />Mr, Paul Gareau, 29940 Lorain Road, questioned whether Council and <br />the Administration were aware of the project of rezoning Lorain Road <br />which was before the Planning Commission, and whether the rezoning <br />had their bles$ing. Ile questioned the results of a telephone survey <br />and stated he thought personal contact was better. <br />Mr. Irwin Seidel, 30940 Lorain, would like to urge that every property <br />owner in the area so affected be contacted. <br />Resolution No. 65-176 was introduced by Mr, Caster. A Resolution deter- <br />mining to proceed with the election upon the proposed issue of bonds <br />for the purpose of constructing and equipping an indoor swimming pool <br />together with the appurtenances thereto, inchiding acquisition and <br />improvement of the site thereof. The Resolution was read in full and <br />put on first reading. <br />The amount of .3346 mills for each $1.00 valuation was questioned, and <br />is to be checked and corrected before the next meeting. <br />Ordinance No. 65-177 was introduced by Mr. Mangani anlput on f irst <br />reading. An Ordinance amending the Zone Map adopted as part of Ordinance <br />No. 62-33 (known as the Zoning Ordinance of the City of North Olmsted) <br />by changing the designation thereoti of certain lands hereinafter des- <br />cribed by metes and bounds from its present designation thereon as Retail <br />
