<br />which would cost considerably more than the sanitary sewer system be-
<br />cause of the size of piping, and right now peaple are not in any posi-
<br />tion to pay for it. There are ditches in many other places in town:
<br />Fitch, McKenzie, Stearns and other roads, and it is the only way we
<br />can protect the road and roadbed so that it does not heave in wintere
<br />Mr. Williams said this was not true on Columbia, and if we are waiting
<br />for price to come down, we might as well forget it. After more discus-
<br />sion on the problem among members of Council and Mr. Williams, President
<br />0'Neill requested the problem be put in Mrv Caster's committee; also re-
<br />questing that all Council members again took over the situation,
<br />Mrs. L. W. Camp, 5360 Columbia Rd., then spoke to Council on same problem,
<br />going over what has happened in the past months.
<br />Mrs. Merkle, 5412 Columbia Rd., also spoke about ditch problem.
<br />Mro Clarence W. Powell, 5459 Decker Road, spoke to Council about unsatis-
<br />factory conversations he has had with Police Department regarding the
<br />speeding in their neighborhood by students driving to school. He has
<br />gotten many license numbers and has gone to parents of young people and
<br />also to the schoolo After much discussion on this problem, Mr. West moved
<br />that Council go on record asking Police Department to set up radar on
<br />Decker, Burns, and Porter Roads at least once a week until further noticeo
<br />Mr. Eian seconded motion. "Yeas" Caster, Eian, Hodgins, Limpert, Prokasy,
<br />West.
<br />Mr, Roger Lockhart, 5519 Decker Road, suggested solution of having Board
<br />of Education close parking lot and nearby area9 and when all young people
<br />had to suffer, they would take care of situation themselves,
<br />Mr. Lydall Beekman, Jr., 23468 Carriage Lane, inquired about drain in back
<br />yard. He had been prosnised July 16th that if builder did not take care of
<br />it by July 25th, the City would and invoice builder. To date nothing has
<br />been done. Acting Engineer Karhan said they have only one price and it is
<br />necessary to get another. Law Director was consulted as to whether or not
<br />two bids are necessary> Mr. Kitchen said if City is going ta do work, bids
<br />are not needed, but if contractor does it, two bids are requiredo After
<br />further discussion, Mr. Beekman was promdsed that this would be taken care
<br />of by October 20th.
<br />Mrs. Clesh, 24134 Rosita Lane, inquired about fence to be erected near Mapie
<br />School property, by the City. Service Director Watts said fence has been
<br />ordered from Anchor Fence Co, and will be installed by them in near future.
<br />Mr. J. D. Boehmer, 28570 North Park Drive, spoke to Council on the car speed-
<br />ing problem on their street. He has several license numbers. Has also called
<br />Police Depte many times. He then inquired about resurfacing after sanitary
<br />sewers are installed.
