<br />OF THE CI TY OF NORTH OLMSTED

<br />Present: President Francis J. 0'Neill, Councilmen Caster, Eian, Hodgins,
<br />Limpert, Miller, Prokasy, West.
<br />Also present: Mayor Ralph E. Christman, Service Director Charles Watts,
<br />Acting Engineer Michael Karhan, Finance Director William L.
<br />Gerlach and Clerk of Council Florence Holm.
<br />Minutes of July 16th Council meeting, and Special Meetings of July 23rd
<br />and August 13th, were approved as read.
<br />The Mayor said he had received a letter on August 22nd from the pepartment
<br />of the Interior advising that Contract 11, had been approved and given to
<br />Haddad Bros. They are now preparing contract and it will be signed and work
<br />will be under construction in about two weeks.
<br />Mrs. Hodgins, Chairman of Liquor Control and Public Service and Utilities
<br />Committee, mentioned that at present time no date for hearing for Liquor Con-
<br />trol Committee had been set, but probably would be sometime in October.
<br />Mrs. Hodgins said the Public Service & Utilities Committee had met twiGe dur-
<br />ing the summer with representatives from Rocky River, Berea, Bay and Nqrth
<br />Olmsted officials on the solid waste disposal problem. We are now wa'tting
<br />for figures from Fairfield Engineering Co, and this wi11 be circulated For
<br />study in the near futuree
<br />Mr. Caster, Chairman of Appointments, Industrial Development and Municipal
<br />Development committees, said an Equalization Board and date of hearing had
<br />been set. The date is September 19th, at 8:00 p.m., and the Board will be
<br />comprised of A1 Conte, Keith Estes and Hugh Seed.
<br />The date that Chairman Miller set for Legislative Committee has kaeen cancelled;
<br />a new date will be announced shortly.
<br />Mr. Eian, Chairman for Safety, Health & Welfare Committee, said their committee
<br />would meet Wednesday, September llth, 8:00 p.m. He requests that Police Chief,
<br />Service pirector, City Engineer, Mayor, Fire Chief and Law Director be present.
<br />Mr. West, Chairman of the Finance Committee, said this committee will meet on
<br />Thursday, September 12th, 8:00 p.me, to discuss 1969 budget.
<br />Mr. Prokasy, Chairman of Design & Platting and Public Parks, Property S Recrea-
<br />tion Committees, has called a meeting of Design & Platting Committee fcar Thurs-
<br />day, September 19th, at 8:30 p.m.
<br />The letter from Mr. E. A. Bittel, 25325 Butternut Ridge Rd., protesting installa-
<br />tion of sidewalks on Butternut Ridge Rd., from Columbia Rd. to Canterbury Rd.,
<br />accompanied by a petition, was read by the Clerk of Council. Mr. Caster commented
<br />that this was a bit premature and action cannot be taken until we see what plans
<br />icw from Engineering look like. After that we can have a meeting with the people
<br />involved, or make recommendations. The Clerk was requested to write Mr. Bittel
<br />to this effect. Mr. Prokasy said Mr. Bittel had talked to him and said the pro-
<br />posed sidewalk construction was affecting the sale of his house.
