He
also asked that Ordinance No. 64-20, combining the positions of
Safety Director and Service Director be amended.
Safety-Service Director Limpert requested authorization to advertise
for an automatic transmission, to cost between $3,000 and $4,000 for
the Service Department.
Mrs. Hodgins, Chairman of the Liquor Control Committee, requested that
Mr. Gundy and Law Director Kitchen attend the hearing being held in
Columbus on Thursday, July 18th at 1:00 P.M.
Mrs. Hodgins, Chairm,an of Public Service and Utilities Committee, reported
on a meeting held July 16th on solid waste disposal, which was attended
by representatives of various neighboring communities and Goodbody & Co.
A report is not yet ready, and another meeting has been scheduled for
August 27tk at 10:00 A.M.
Mr. Caster, Chairman of the Appointment Committee, reported his committee
concurs with the Mayor's appointment of Charles Watts as Service Director.
Mr. Caster moved that Council approve the Mayor's recommendation that
Charles Watts be appointed to the position of Service Director. "Ayes" Caster, Eian, Hodgins, Limpert,
Miller, Prokasy, West.
Mr. Limpert, Chairman of the Transportation Comanittee, reported they
met July 11 to discuss the probability of changing our way of charging
for school passes. It was agreed it would be wise to go to the system
used in Cleveland and other areas, by charging a minimum fee for an
ID card for students, and then charge a cash fare for all rides. Before
any further action is taken, his committee will meet with the Fairview
Transportation Committee, possibly the first part of August. Longevity
pay for drivers and mechanics was also discussed, and it is recomnended
that the Finance Committee consider this pay, since at this time most
of the other municipal employees are entitled to longevity pay.
