Gressel of The Urban League of Cleveland
commending Council for affirmative response in regard to equality of oppor-
tunity for citizens of North Olmsted.
A group of residents from Michael Avenue attended Council meeting. One of
the residents, Mr. Robert Ragsdale, 4489 Michael Avenue, presented Council
with a petition signed by 31 people stating they do not want swale on their
properties. They request a date for a public hearing to discuss the City's
intentions in this matter. City Engineer Dutton said he had covered the
subject in two letters to residents on Michael. He stated the problem stems
frorn the fact that older sub-divisions do not have a drainage plan in their
original plans, and there is definitely a major drainage problem on the west
side of Michael and a minor problem on east side of street. This is what
we are trying to take care of now. He has submitted drainage plan which he
believes is workable, and there is a scheduled meeting on March 13th with
the developer. Mr. Ragsdale then requested a date for a public meeting with
residents on Michael. Mr. Emory Meeks, 4513 Michael, remarked this was not an
old sub-division - only three years at most. He requested that Councilmen at-
tend this public hearing. Feels same thing should apply to west side of Bren-
dan Lane as would apply to Michael. Mayor Christman explained how this situa-
tion had been left by the builder, Bruscino, and now the developer, Mr. Varady,
is back in here and there is a chance to get things done. Drainage on the
west side, in the Mayor's opinion, is definitely bad. Mr. Del 6uidice, 4573
Michael, spoke about unsafe condition of ditches, their depth, etc. Mr. David
McDaniels, 4365 Michael Avenue, asked if anything will be done in a perrnanent
and binding manner before residents attend this public hearing. Mr. Dutton
assured residents that nothing would happen until there is a public hearing.
Date for public hearing was set for Saturday, March 23rd, 10:30 a.m., at the
City Hall, and Mr. 0'Neill assured the Michael residents that as many Council-
men as possible would be present. Mrs. Carol McDaniels, 4365 Michael Avenue,
also expressed her opinion of situation.
Mr. Carl Homan, 4517 Clague Avenue, requested opportunity to speak to Council
on some sanitary sewer work done on his property by a C. I. Murphy. This was
then inspected by one of our building inspectors. Mr. Homan paid the bill for
work. It then became evident that something was radically wrong with hook-up
and he had to have further work done by another plumbin?' company, and then re-
ceived a second bill. He now wants to know who he can'?urn one of the bills
over to. The concensus of opinion was that he should refer this to the Build-
ing Department.
Reso.l.uzi;ani:No. 68-25 was given its third reading. Resolution recognizing a
moral claim against the City of North Olmsted to Kenneth R. Timbrook in the
arnount of Ninety-Three Dollars and Ninety-Four Cents ($93.94). Mr. Caster
moved for the adoption, seconded by Mrs. Hodgins. Affirmative vote was
Caster, Hodgins, Limpert, Miller, Prokasy, West.
