Council Meeting, December 19, 1967 _2_ <br />C-4 Mr. Mangani, Chairman of Design and Platting Committee, reported on meeting <br />with the consulting engineers of Floyd G. Browne and Associates, Ltd. re- <br />garding completion of sanitary Sewer program. They advised that it can be <br />completed in the next two years and that everything can be under contract <br />by next summer. Their report was most encouraging and feeling was that we <br />are in good operating condition. <br />As Chairman of the Public Parks, Property and Recreation Committee, Mr. <br />Mangani reported that this eommittee had met on December 6th with the <br />Recreation Commission and the School Board. Copies of this agenda were <br />given to Councilmen and the six point5 on agenda were thoroughly discussed <br />by Mr. Mangani. <br />Mr. Mangani also mentioned there is a proposal from the Great Narthern Group <br />presenting an apartment project in the mixed-use area for four buildings, <br />seven stories high, containing a total of 692 suites. For the present it is <br />in the hands of the Ptanning Comnission. Cotrmittee also working with Schoot <br />Board, in the area of Sandy Ridge;#4 (Porter and Dover Roads). They've dis- <br />cussed this with Mr. Koontz of the Schoo) Board and asked him to get feeling <br />of School Board on vorking out an area in the Cluster Development for a school <br />site. They should hear frsxn the Schqol Board very soon. If agreeable, we <br />will proceed and obtain property. <br />Sandy Ridge #3 has been prepared for legislation. <br />Mr. Mangani also discussed the Jamestown Apartment area at Columbia and Brook- <br />park. An extension of apartments is contempiated to the nprth and east and <br />a 30-day exfiension is needed. Mr. Mangani moved that Jamestown be granted a <br />30-day extension. "Yeas" by Caster, Eian, Hodgins, Limpert, Mangani, West. <br />Clerk of Council was asked to notify tMe Planning Cormnission. <br />The Clerk read letter from Mr. William H. Roudebush, 4948 Devon Drive, urging <br />that North Olmsted pass suggested Urban League's Operation Equal Housing Ordin- <br />ance which has been endorsed by many groups of the Greater Cleveland area con- <br />cerned with fair housing. This resolution is being considered in the Legisla- <br />tive Committee. <br />Mr. 0'Neill then introduced State Senator Jahn H. Weeks who attended meeting to <br />present Mayor Ralph E. Christman with an Ohio State Flag to remind North dlmsted <br />that the State is vitally interested in the problems of the municipality and <br />wishes to do everything possible to help us. <br />Various people requested permisSion to address Council on fair housing: John <br />Glasgow, 5862 Gareau Drive; Robert Burns, 6151 Sherwood Orive; Frank Pinkham, <br />6595 Barton Road; John Montean, 4731 Bailey, Mrs. Lawrence Smith, 5526 Revere <br />Drive.°?, . ?,J <br />Councilman John West said that everybody agrees that action speaks louder than <br />words, and he feels definitely that citizens in Nprth Olmsted have quietly de- <br />cided to do our job, and alwayS welcome good citizens. Councilrnan Dewey Limpert <br />commented that we are a fast growing city and have assumed this responsibility <br />and have welcomed all classes of people regardless of race or color, and we're <br />getting along fine without a resplution.
