9• ^„y` ?.^ ' •a • ? <br />MI NUTES OF THE MEETI NG OF THE COUNCI L <br />OF THE CiTY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />December 5, 1967 8:00 p.rn. <br />Present: President of Council Francis J. 0'Neill, Councilmen Carroll <br />Eian, Jack Foltz, Virginia Hodgins, Dewey Limpert, Al Mangani9 <br />John West. <br />Also Present: Mayor Ralph Christman, Safiety Director Del Limpert, <br />Law Director J. Bruce Kitchen, City Engineer Frank Dutton <br />and Clerk of Council Florence Holm. <br />Absent: Councilman Henry Caster. <br />Minutes of ineeting of Noverriber 21st evere approved as corrected, <br />Safety-Serv+ce Director Limpei-t requested authority to advertise for three <br />new police cars. <br />Mrs. Hodgins, Chairman of Public-5ervic.e and Utilities Committee, reported <br />on meeting of Public Service and Utilities Committee on November 27th, <br />with the Citizens' Committee on Solid Waste Disposal Study, Councilmen, <br />Engineer Dutton and Mr. Daniel Monihan of Mineral Research AssociaLes. <br />Mr. Monihan presented report containing sample contract. Land required <br />2-2L to 5 acres, depending on zoning, for parking and machinery under roof <br />(within a 7-10 mile driving radius for trucks). Suggested sites: Ridge- <br />ville, Westlake and Brookpark. However, North Olmsted would be a decided <br />tax advantage if located here. Advantage to citi2ens: save money, pro- <br />tect future and abate smoke. Estimated cost to North Olmsted would be <br />$5.00 per ton or less. Would have to guarantee 250 ton of waste per day <br />at beginning as minimum and increase to 400 to 500 ton per day (this will <br />necessitate including neighboring communities). 150,000 population is <br />considered the requisite number to supply.this amount of solid waste. <br />Councilman Foltz ?noved, setonded by Councilman Eian that City of North <br />Olmsted adopt the Waste Processing and Rectamation method of Solid Waste <br />Disposal. Vote in favor was unanimous. <br />Mr. Mangani, in.,Mr. Caster's absence, reported that Municipal Development <br />Committee would be meeting on the last phase of sewers in the next week or <br />so. <br />Mr. Dewey Limpert, Transportation Chairman, requested meeting of thii com- <br />mittee on December 7th at 7:30 p.m. He has been given figures frow Mr? <br />Best, Superintendent of Operations of North Olmsted Municipal Bus Ltri1li; <br />in regard to school bus runs, and would like to have Mr. Best present at <br />this meeting. <br />Mr. Ei an, Safety, Heal th & Welfare Chai rman, sai d thi s commi ttee had met <br />last Thursday and recommends a traffic signal light be located at Davld <br />and Lorain Rd. <br />
