March 7, 1967 - Page 2 <br />Mr. Mangani, Chairma.n of the Public Parks, Proper•cy and ItEcreatxon Gcmmittee, <br />reported on a meeting held on Februarg - 28th wiieh the the F'inance Commit:tee <br />and the Recreation Commission_and:the_Recxeation. Dizeetar, A1??o at the <br />meeting was Reuerend Mr, Potts of_ the: Christ the King Lutheran Ghurch,? <br />Mr. Potts described.the 1967.summer.youth program whieh they want t.o cort- <br />tinue this year. This is a once-a-week_aetiv°ity and ithey wou1.d iike to <br />meet in the Communitq Cabin starting in_June every Thursday evening, arcd <br />continue all summer until the Thursday.taefore Labor Day. The program is <br />sponsored by the North Otmsted Ministerial.Ass.ociation, and they havE hired <br />a paid-director. -They asked that.the City provide the Cabin on a nc-charge <br />basis until.their -gr-ogram is.eompletedo_..At_that time they tEel thEy wili <br />have enough in.their_treasury.to.cover part-of thE.rental, They agree tc- <br />keep the cabin in.good condition.. The_Co.mmittee felt this was a worthwhile <br />activity and..r.ecomutends that Council.goealQng.with it9 with the undersrand- <br />ing_.that.the members.of the_Putaiic_Parks,_Property and Recreation Committee <br />. wi11. attend the.eval.uation meetings held throughcut the surrrraEr to r,?!Icw rhe <br />progress-of the program. <br />Mr. Mangani then reported _on_the_ commu.tte-e! s-mee-tiaag with. r.he ]?e-creatic?n <br />Commission. Of the.projects..which they_outlined..last..year., the SheIt.er Hcuse <br />at the Clague.Pla3rground_is.being.comgleted,_the enlarged parking area at <br />Clague is being finished, and the new baekstog wi11 bE_completed this yeax, <br />? The Committee recommends that.the_hand_director be_made.a year-araund <br />position i,nstead-of heing limited to summer band, and ask that Ordinance <br />No. 66-56 be so amended. <br />Proposed improuements_are to.the driueway entranees into the Clague Recreational <br />Area from Glague.Road and Car1a Lane -$B,QOO; canstruction of tennis courts, <br />probably at the high.schoal -$10,00U; b1ack topping for basketbalI courts - <br />$8,500; fencing at Safety_Town -$1,800; sheltex at Safety Town -$3,500, <br />Also scheduled is preparing the-.recreation areas at Pine, Spruce and BirLh <br />Schools so that they will be ready in the fall of the yearm The Committee <br />recommends that.the.gaving and fencing of the entrances to the Clague Area <br />be given top priority. <br />Mr. West, _ Chairman .of . the.
