Lia?pert, Mr. .Cxadjr, Mrs. Hodgina?, Mayor Christmen, <br />Service Direceor Watts aad Finan,ce Director Gerlach. The folltwing items <br />were discussed: i) in re budget for 1971 - the Mayor and Ffamnce Director <br />will review proposed expendituree atd will present aore explicit findings to <br />this Committee for @][SniASCiOA and Finance Committee will rnest again an May <br />25th, 8:I5 p.m., on this matter; 2) ia reference to Mayor's request in <br />connection wfth uart-time work perfaremed by the Police Department for the <br />City, the Committee agreed to his request for a sliding acale o£ $3.20 to <br />$4.70; 3) regarding request for reccnaideratian of first and second qear <br />policemea salaries, the Committee feels that this was discuased during the <br />negotiation psriod and at that tfme were told it was not necessary this be <br />consi@ered as it was not felt there was any need for anq increese in that <br />area. The Finance Committee with all due respect to the budget and their <br />negotiations, will hold to what they have already set up; 4) wi21 request <br />legislatian, under new busine,ss, authorizfng Service Director to advertise <br />for the following: t?:res for city vehicles, bids for new generator far <br />Bradley Road Lift Station, bids for aew 25 qard packer truck. A2.so, under <br />new businesa, will request legislation to appropriate money to paq Haddad <br />Brothers for moaey due them; 5) this Committee discussed sea2ing af sanitary <br />sewers that were done on earliex Contract and how well it has proven out ia <br />keeping away leakage of water into our sanitary sewers and wi11 checlc further <br />into possibilitq of cantinuing thie work in the Contract 6 area; 7) thie <br />Committee has been notified by Mr. Watts that the bus effiployeee vscation <br />ordinaace needs to be updated and this will be checked into; 8) regarding <br />request fraar Mr. Gradp as to repa#.rin$ of guard r$i.i on Columbia kaad, <br />have been iaformed by our Servi.ce Director that repairs aeeded there Wiii <br />not necessitate leffiislation. There is amey h?j his budget ta take care <br />of repairs and will proceed with same. /?? <br />Mr. West, Chairman Traasportation and Design & Plattiag Committees, <br />requested a joint saeeting of Transportation and Finance Committee on <br />June 8th, 8:15 p.m. Atso, Mr. West stated the Design & Platting Committee <br />at this particular time have ao recamRendations on Ordinaaces ATos. 69-220 <br />and 69-221 and no sgecific date as to When Committee will come up to Council <br />with a recommendation. At this tine Mr. tJeat requested a Design & Platting <br />Committee meeting on Mag 28th, 8:00 p.m. <br />Mr. Prokasq, Chairman Public Safetq, stated he had no repoxt but read a <br />letter from Chief John Fleischer, tJestlake PoZice Departmnt, addressed to <br />Chief Harry Hird, North 01msted Poliee Department, regarding armed rabberies <br />which occurred in two of Lawson Milk Company atores in Westlake, oa April <br />13, 1970, and the appreheasiou of the suspect by North Olmsted Detectives <br />a short time later. Chief Fleischer camaended Betectives Jerry Krynak and <br />Lee Scott for their alertness in spotting the suspect aud the ffipeed and <br />efficiency with which the arrest was executed with the assietaace of <br />Patrolman Richard Fox. He a2so aasured Ctiief Aird he will do evexqthing <br />in his power to maintain the treueendous relationship snd cooperation exist- <br />ing between the Departments.
