Mr. Boehmsr raquested the Clerk o,f Covz&il <br />to sead Mr. Timothy a letter notitying him af the Committee's decision; <br />4} Committee reconnends the O.W.D.A. application be aubrn3tted as aoon as <br />possible; also, permit xate incresse be submitted to the Finance Committee <br />for study. <br />Mr. L3mpert, Chairmen Finance Cc»aittee, stated he had no regort but <br />requested a meeting of the Pinance Committee on May 18th at 8:15 p.m. <br />Mr. Limpert xeqnested Mayor Chrigtman, Service Directar Watts and <br />Fiasnce Director Gerlach to attend. <br />Mr. Prokasy, Chairaian Public Safetp, repvrted the follawing: 2) the <br />traffic aignal.s on Lorain Road are undergoing additional study with <br />person who has provfded this service of syachroniziag our traffic lights <br />by coutputer system. There will be some recommendations in this regard <br />as to either location and/ar necessitq of sigaal lip,hts on Lorain Rosd. <br />Sometime within the near future it is hoped to have a camplete syachro- <br />niaation aqstem from Berkshire to Canterbury; 2) this Committee has made <br />several recomnendations invelving lights that there are contiaual prob- <br />lems or requets about - one beiag the Decker Road light. 3'his has been <br />operaCed bq a tripping device as traffic cames up Decker Roacl. The <br />Comn?ittee'e recomnendation is that the trfpping device be bqpessed. <br />That light is already set for synchronization to the Lorain - Porter <br />ligt?t, and that it operate on reaular red and green signalling during <br />normal daytime hours, on flashex at night tisae hours such as atter 10:00 <br />p.m., and this will tie it into the Porter Road light. Mr. Prokasp ex- <br />plaiaed that one of the probleas with the tripping mechaaism is that at <br />times cars will miss the sensor that causes Zight to trip ausd light will <br />not signal then; 3) similar problem at Berkshire & Lorain Roads - the <br />Committee is also recomcaending to bypass trip sqstem. There fs an addi- <br />tional piece of equipment that is in pxocess of beiag added to that <br />signal].ing sqstem at Berkshire, aad when added, that will also be synchro- <br />nized into the rest of Lvrain Road lights. It will remain on caution at <br />night as it is notq, but wi21 be synchronized red and green on Lorafn Road <br />trafffc; 4) Committee has also reccnmmended the changes in the curfew <br />law as desired by the 3e:venile Court and in accordance with the reconmenda- <br />tions sent to the Committee by the Law Department. The change basically <br />is that at the present time our Ordinance deems the parent of a minor <br />child who violates a curfew laa to be the only one penal.ized. 'ihe Court, <br />in ef€ect, would like to be able to proceed against both the parent and <br />the Juvenile under these violations; S) a great deaZ of tfine and studq <br />has been spent regaxding the iatersection at Ciague & Mastick Roads. T1ze <br />Service Department has added an addiCioaal stop sign, so that there are <br />two stop signs on Clague; also have added a two way "dead end" arroa <br />opposite the ending of Clague to signal that one must make either a left <br />or right turn as one apprQUhes that intersection; ihere are two traffic <br />warning signs ordered Ckat on grri.val will be installed in that area an <br />either side of Clague Road, cYhi+ch will provide a cyarning that motorists <br />are approaching a"T" shaped intersection. The Committee hems reccmmended, <br />and AdministraCian is in agreetaent, that wttsa we proceed with our street <br />lighting program for this yesr one intersection, among others, to be <br />?. _ ? ?? : _ . +????x ?. ? ?, • ? , ??:?? ???
