Public Hearing 4-27-70 Page -10- <br />Mr. Sparky DiBenedetto spoke in favor of Ordinance 69-220. <br />Ordinance No. 69-221 was then read by Messrs. Grady, Boehmer and 0'Neill. <br />President 0'Neill asked for objections to this Ordinance. <br />Mr. Bailess, Ashbury Park, stated the people who voiced their objections to <br />69-220 and had to leave, also wished to object to this Ordinance also. <br />go <br />At this time President 0'Neill said we can/through objections to 69-221 but <br />Council is aware of how the audience feels, and asked for comments in favor of Ord. <br />Mr. D. Foldesy, Leenders Lane, stated he received no notice and asked if there <br />is to be commercial property on both sides. President 0'Neill answered yes - <br />this is what is intended. <br />Mr. James Lynch, Dover Road, stated he hoped Council will consider that everyone <br />there is against this Ordinance, except for two men. He felt no traffic problem <br />will be eliminated - only duplicated. <br />Mr. Johnns asked when I 80 comes in will this help traffic flow and help for <br />a more orderly flow of traffic onto Dover. Mr. West replied yes but when the <br />City reaches it top population - 55,000 to 70,000, even with I 80 - we will be <br />back to where it is now. <br />Mrs. Johnns asked when Council will vote on this and how much more time they <br />have to convince Council they do not want this. Mr. West replied the second <br />meeting in May. <br />Mr. West also explained that even if 200 people were here and were only emotional <br />with no practical reasons, this would not be as effective as real reasons and <br />facts behind their case. He stated as Chairman of Design & Platting he has had <br />people asking for the extension because they go down Lorain Rd., have a traffic <br />jam and want relief. Mr. West went on to say he has heard many good reasons here <br />tonight why this extension should not go through. AIl things have to be considered. <br />Council does appreciate all comments and wants to do what is right for everyone. <br />Mr. Ernest, Lorain Road, asked if recourse id referendum petition iE Council <br />passes legislation. He was answered yes. <br />Mr. Boehm, Leenders Lane, questioned traffic survey. President 0'Neill stated <br />the survey that was taken in that area did not take into consideration any traffic <br />that would be generated as a result of a development that would take place subse- <br />quent to this Ordinance if in fact it were passed. <br />Mr. West commented when the Shopping Center was proposed there was a petition of <br />300 people against it and naw it has turned out to be tax wise, etc. one of the <br />real booms of the City. Mr. West stated that as long as he is on Council he wi11 <br />vote for what is best for the people and North Olmsted in his judgment. <br />President 0'Neill then thanked everyone in the audience for attending meeting and <br />assured them their comments will be taken into consideration and deliberated pn <br />carefully before a vote is cast. <br />I _ _ ? . ??.1. ,, , I l.s , -„,-x?,?--,
