Council Minutes 4-21-70 Page -2- <br />and discussed the extsasian of Canterbury Rvad with the develcpers who <br />would like to do thie if Brookpark Extension is put thraugh. He then <br />referred to a map showing the propoaed plan - connscting Canterbury a11 <br />the way through the Shopping Center and dam to Rennedy R#.dge Road. Mr. <br />West stated there was serious doubt as to whether the State would ga <br />along with this artd the City Engineer Gyas requested to check wi.th tfie <br />State in a prelimiaary way ta aae that if Brookpark Extesasinn aoas made, <br />could a cross-road be made on Braokpark. Mr. Rarltan reported that Mr. <br />Spilburg of the State Highway Department sair2 at present they see no <br />objection to crosaing Brookpark Road with a street that would conaect <br />t4m city streeta naw, which would be Canterbury siad Kemodq Itidge, but <br />this would have to be appraved by the Director of Highuaga, and then a <br />Public Hearing and the State would act on it from there. Mr. West stated <br />this 3s aot a part of Brookpark Extension per se - the reaanin$ we are <br />having a Public Aearing on, but it does have a bearing from the standpoint <br />in that if Brookpark is not extended this is not possible, and thia is <br />something we 8hould a11 take a look at; it gives us another nvrth - soueh <br />accesr -oad and would alleviate some tra€fic off of Dover and Columbia <br />Roads. Design & Platting Cvaami.ttee have approved and will request legis- <br />lation for the follvwing subdivisians: tionte, Pacer Coxistructian office <br />buildings, Kacperski, Olmsted Wooda aad Olmsted Towers, and the donation <br />of one acre of gruuad by Mr. S. DiBenedetto near the Maple RidAe School. <br />Mr. West stated the Flanning Cownission has requested a thirty dap extensicm <br />on the Embassq ReaoninQ. Motfon was made by Mr. t?est, secvncled by Mr. <br />Prokasy to grant exCension. Affirmatiue vote Boehmer, Grady, Hodgins, <br />Liupert, Prok.asy, Speedling, West. <br />Mr. West reported the Transportation Comaittee met on April 18th to <br />dfscuss with the Bus Drivers possibil3ty of pap raise. Last Fa21 it was <br />agreed to wait until the first quarter of the year, to ses what the <br />increased faxes determf.ned in the waq o£ revenue. 'Mr. West sCated a <br />104? per hour raise was graz?ted and that all of the financial figurse of <br />the bus line had been reviewed and it was agreed that this is a realistic <br />figtire. There is legislation tonight ta enact same. <br />Mr. Prokasq, Chairman of Pu61ic Safety, stated no report because of <br />cancellation of ineeting and reschednled a meeting oa tionday, ?-tay 4th <br />at 8:15 p.m. <br />People addressina Coimcil: <br />Mr. Sarl 2imothy, 29863 Broxbourne, stated that this would be the <br />last time he would address Cout1cil. He thanked the members af Council <br />for the courtesy extencled to him over the years. Mr. Timothy then <br />presented a resume of his conplaints, apinions and protests which had <br />been heard before Council over the past fifteen years. 'tr. Timothy <br />discussed the circulation of petition on Guilford, in connection w3.th <br />sewers; his protestg and objections of assessa?ents on Broxboume, <br />4z Guilford and Decker Reads. Mx. Tiuothy feels he is not being; treated <br />fairly in regard to these asseewsents. Mayor Christman answered Mr. <br />
