' .. <br />MINUTES 0F THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OI,MSTEA <br />October 21, 1969 <br />Present: President of Cauncil Francis J. 0'Neill, Councilmen Caster, Eian <br />Hodgins, Limpert, Prokasy, West. <br />Absent: Councilman Miller. <br />Also present: Mayor Ralph E. Christman, 5ervice Director Charles Watts, <br />Finance Dixector William Gerlach, Acting City Engineer Michael <br />Karhan, Assistant Law Direceqr Fzank Lord, Clerk of Cauncil <br />Florence Holm. <br />The minutes of Council meeting of October 7th were approved as writtena <br />Mayor Christman said he had been informed on October 9th by the Department <br />of the Interior that there would be an additional 10%, making it $190,410, <br />for Contract 11. <br />Mrs. Hodgins, Chairman of Ziquor Control and Public Service and Util.ities <br />Committees, said the latter committee h&d ptet qn October 9th with agentle- <br />man from the Harris Company of Pittsbqrgh on 4ubject of solid waste disposal.• <br />He wi11 do some research for North Olmsted and report back sometime in the <br />future. <br />Mr. Caster, Chairman of Appointments, Industria]. nevelopment and Municipal <br />Development Committees, reported that the Municipal Development Committee <br />had met on October 16th with the tw4 pxopgrty owners on corners of Theresa <br />Lane and Walter Road (Bishop & Curtis). Cammittee is not making any recom- <br />mendation at this Cime but awaiting further information on subject. Thep <br />are working on possibilitp of a reduced gogessmetit for these two corner lots. <br />This committee will request 1egi51ati,qn tonight for sidewalks on P. P. No. <br />231-12-14, A. King, at cArner of Cl,ague 4nd ?orain Roads. They alsa reviewed <br />Mr. Thomas Webber'S request for an ad3ustmont on his sewer assessment. This <br />is a lot where the sanitsry sewer li.ne ends befoxe it completely crosses his <br />lot. Committee feels fxontal assessment 411ould be figured on a benefit basis <br />and that Mr. Webber should be charRed just like any other property owner. <br />They decided they could not honor his reguest for an ad.justment. <br />Mr. Limpert, Transportation Chairman, said the mini buses will arrive on the <br />24th of October. They will be ready for s&rvice about the first of November. <br />He described the schedule to be used and commented that these will appear <br />in the newspaper. Maps are to be made up showing the route of buses. De- <br />pending on success of these two mini buses, Copunittee eventually hopes to <br />cover other areas in North Olmsted with similaX buses. Mr,, Limpert added <br />that there would not be a fare increase gor this sqrvice. <br />Mr. West, F"inance Committee Chairman, said they had met on October 20th, with <br />representatives from Fixe Department, discussing their 1970 salaries, hospi- <br />talization, uniforms, etc., and now have these pzoblems under consideration. <br />Committee also reviewed the 1969 budget as it now stands and will make what- <br />ever adaustments are necessary. They will ask for legislation this evening <br />authorizing the Service Department to take bids for two cars (compact); one <br />back hoe; one small dozer; storm sewer pipe; overbead signs and poles for <br />Lorain Road. <br />
