Council Minutes 6-17-69 -2- <br />Mr, Gaster then resumed his committee report. T'he committeE had recom- <br />mended that the 5" tile on west side of Porrer remain as is and only be <br />? repaired. They recommend the S" tile on east side be replaced eniirely <br />with 12" tile; also, on west 5ide from Martin, north to City limits <br />replace 5" tile with Y2", Mt, Caster moved we accept these c'hanges in <br />plans as far as drain tile information given, seconded by Mx. Prokasy- <br />"Yeas" Caster, Eianx Hodgins, Limpertx Mi11er, Prokasy, West. <br />Mr, Caster mentioned two peticions submitted at iast Council meeiing: <br />one by Mrs, Sa1a on Dawn Drive and anuther from people on Marion Road, <br />complaining about sanitary sewers baeking up intu basements- Mr. Caster <br />discussed this situar-ion with the Mayur, and a program is bei.ng set up <br />in the area to smoke test for cross connections, celevise where Service <br />Director feels necessary and check all old lines between septic tanks and <br />houses. These had conditional OK's. T'he sanitary lateral difficulLies <br />wi11 be covered under Contract 15, In reference to Mrs: Sa1a's petition: <br />the City 3s trying its best to keep ditch apen. <br />Mr? Caster said that the starm sewer survey submitted by Floyd Browne <br />shows that our particular area is wit.hin the 200 acre water shed. fihis <br />is anticipated for our long range storm sewer pragiam. <br />Relative to Dover Road, under Contract 12, (this wou1d aIso apply to <br />Douglas Drive) the committee diseussed feasibility of boring the lateral <br />connections to the opposite side of street ratheY than open cut method. <br />Dover Road is still in good shape, There would be additional cost for <br />boring lateral conneetions to the west side but long range maintenance <br />cost will far exceed the addicional expense of open euts. There is leeway <br />in money we have in the contract fox c.ontingencies. <br />Mr, West, Chairman of the Finance Committee, said committee had received <br />recommendations from Recreation Gommission for Ordinance 69-127, which had <br />its first reading at last CounciT meeting. This committee will meet in <br />the next week to further study proposed 1970 Budget and dlsa Recreation <br />Commission's proposal tor recreational facilitiesR <br />Mr:. Prokasy, Chairman of Public Parks, Property and Recreation Committee, <br />said this committee had received a Ietter and drawing from Mayor on proposed <br />walk-in park at Clague Rd- and proposed I-80A Tn order to do this the City <br />would need to appropriate a parcel of land. Mr- Prokasy will request legis- <br />lation for this parcei, <br />As Chairman of Design and Platting GommiLtee, Mr. Prokasy reported that. <br />legislation still is not complete for zoning on Lorain, but he hopes to <br />have it for next Council meeting- <br />The Clerk read several communicacions. Ihere was a letter from Lhe North <br />Olmsted Music Festival Advisory Commictee and the Great Northern Merehants <br />thanking City for financial help given to the programP There was a letter, <br />dated June 13th, from Dr, Charles B. Lewis, president of the North 01msted <br />Chamber of Commerce, stat3ng they felt it is to0 late to make changes in <br />zoning on Lorain Road since there is now too much commerc.ial building in <br />existence in area and it would work a hardship on present commercial estab- <br />lishments. There was also a June 13th letter from the Park Ridge Civic <br />Association, Inc., signed by AnLhony Weigand, President, congratulating <br />Council for bringing revised commercial zoning before the Cityn fihis group <br />of some 300 families said they heartily support the proposed zoning changes.
