<br />The Public Parks, Propexty &?ecreation "ommittee r_"iscsssed requests made
<br />by the Recreation Commission. Service Director Watts f7ill write them, ad-
<br />vising which we will be able to make at this tir.±e. A study of the memorial
<br />garden suggested was made. T!iere has a1so been interest in imnroving the
<br />front of Morth 0lmsted Park k+,y the Communit,y Council. Comr.iittee is con-
<br />sidering nossibility of incoxporating such a garden in this area.
<br />The Clerk read a letter from 'Zr. and "1rs. ilill.ian A. TJylie, representing
<br />pronerty ovners on Ranchview Avenue, dated February 4, requesting Council
<br />take into consideratioa chactging present plans tv relocato sidewalks on
<br />- the west side of Ranchview Aveuue. There was also a aetition from propeXty
<br />owtzers on Ranehview.
<br />Mr. Eian gave the Clerk 4 petitian to read, submitted by `.Tr. James D. Boehmsr,
<br />from property owners and residents of Martin and North ?ark Drives, requgst-
<br />ing that Council refrain fxam aaproving construction of drainage ditches
<br />along said streets, stating they c-ypuld not only be unsiehtly, but also would
<br />be a hazard to the health of children and danger to traffic in neighborhood.
<br />The Mayqr suggested action be taken immediately on the Ranchview request,
<br />since work in this area is about t4 be atarted. '4r. Caster said he felt
<br />the sidewalks were non-confprming as they axe now, not really safe for
<br />children to play on, also a hazard for snow glowina. Thought must be given
<br />to future, not just today, in replacing sidewalks. Mrs. ?<Iy1i,e, and a netghbor
<br />from other side of Ranchview, both a,seured Council they felt it would be un-
<br />necessary to change present arrangement of sidewalks. Mr. Eian moved thst
<br />sidewalks be replaced as thsy now are, seGandod by Mr. Prokasy. "Yeas"

<br />The Mayor said the dxainage on Martin Drive ties in with the resurfac3ng and
<br />paving in this area, and is very important as it will protect pavemenC thoG
<br />will be put in, otherwise in a few years the situation will be back in the
<br />shape it is now. The ditches that wi11 be cut should eliminate the water
<br />problem and protect pavement. The Mayor suggested residents should meet with
<br />the Engineering Department to discuss the cuts and inspect the drawin$s. Mr.
<br />Caster comraented that some atreets in the City have already been resurfaced
<br />and reditched in this manner, such as Canterburv Fd. "l.r. Boehmer asked Mayor
<br />Christman if width of road is to be changed. The Mayor said it will be
<br />standardized to about 18'. After further discussion, a date of February 26th,
<br />at 8:00 p.m., was decided upon far residents on these streets to meet with
<br />the Engineering Department to discuss their respectivip views.
<br />Frank Collister, 28382 North Pazk Drive, also spoke about the drainage problem
<br />and asked how important a ditch would be on the north side of street.
<br />Ordinance Nq. 68-200, which had been intzoduced by Mr. Miller, was given its
<br />t'hird reading, "An Ordinance enacting Chapter 1331 of Title Seven af the
<br />Codified Ordinances of Che City of North OJ,msted by e$tablishing the procedure
