<br />Present: President Francis J. O'Neill, Councilmen Boehmer, Giesaer, Limpert,
<br />Prokasy, Saringer, Speedling, tdest.
<br />Also present: Service Director Henry Caster, Finance Director William
<br />Gerlach, Asst. Law Director Elmer Cowan, City Engineer Michael
<br />Karhan, Clerk of Council Nara Hill.
<br />Meeting was called to order by President O'Neill at 8:00 P.M.
<br />Minutes of Council Feting of October 17, 1972, were approved as read.
<br />Service Director Caster reported the following: 1) re Walter Road paving -
<br />most of the paving has been depleted excegt for blending; at sooe of the
<br />intersections and driveways, and about half of the berm has to be done yet.
<br />Before paving began City and contractor dug test holes to investigate sub-
<br />surface and decision was made to use existing blacktop as abase which has
<br />a thickness of about S". With the leveling course and finished course there
<br />is about 8" to 10" thickness of blacktop asphalt. City did not att-t this
<br />project because the City does not have equipment to do that type of paving
<br />job;
<br />2) re tree planting - 300 trees have already been planted and there are
<br />200 more to be planted. Some trees have been planted on near streets and
<br />same axe replacements on the following streets: Hawkins, Tree Lane, Ctespel
<br />Hi11, Sharon Drive, Woodview, Cottornaood Trail, Dogwood Trail, Norse Drive,
<br />tdindsor Drive. On Kew Drive the trees were replaced at no cost to the City
<br />because it was determined it was an experimental tree planted last year attd
<br />were replaced at no cost;
<br />3) Mr. Earl Weldon, Public taorks Commissioner, has been attending Transpor-
<br />tation Meetings on the Five County Transit Study. Next meeting to be held
<br />an November 21, 1972. Items to be discussed are coordinating the arsawide
<br />transit system, coordinating route schedules, fare policies, traezsfers from
<br />one bus system Co another, and subsidies. Anyone interested in attending
<br />meeting should contact Mr. IJeldan as to the time and place.
<br />Mr. Boehmer, Chairman Public Safety, Realth & Welfare Committee, reported
<br />Committee met and reviewed application of Towne Beverage Co. of C1evslaetd,
<br />Inc. dba Towne Club, 25044 Lorain Rd. , for a C-2 peneit (bX beer a~td mete
<br />carryout) and Committee has no objections to the approval of this a~-lication.
<br />Committee alas discussed and reviewed application of Chinese Palawee,, Inc.
<br />dba Chinese Palace Restaurant, 4626 Great Northern Blvd., for a D-1 and D-2
<br />permit to sell 3.2 and 6x beer and wine, and Committee has no ob~ectio~ to
<br />the approval of this application.
<br />Mr. Giesaer, Chairman Intro Governmental Relations & Legislatio~t 4~esti.tt®re,
<br />announced there is a CATV Seminar in Columbus, Ohio, on Noves~er 9 s~ 18th;
<br />anyone interested in attending contact ?qtr. Giesaer. Mr. Giesaer s led
<br />a Legislation Committee meeting an Monday, November 13, 1972, $:iS P.M.
