Still getting complaints about smoke and odor of these apartments. <br />Mr. Boehmer, Chairman Public Safety, Health & welfare Coa~aittee, stated <br />this Committee did not meet. However, would like to report on meeting <br />he had with residents of Blossow Blvd. on October 5, 1972, regarding wain <br />drainage ditch behind their hawse. Residents feel that ditch should be <br />covered and it is the City's responsibility to do it. Mr. BoehOer explained <br />that when the residents bought this land they knew exactly what they were <br />buying. Residents stated the builder told them that the ditch., which is <br />approximately 50 ft. wide and 20 ft. deep, would contain 6 in. of water. <br />Mr. Baehr checked with Engineering Dept. to ascertain if developer lived <br />up to all of his agreewents with the City on the ditch and was informed <br />that developer had. He also ccmtacted the builder and was told that the <br />people bought this land with their eyes opened and builder is not responsible <br />to do anymore for them. Residents said there will be ware cosssents from them. <br />Mr. Liwpert, Chairw~ Fin~ce Coasi.ttee, reported Cosaiittee met and reviewed <br />the following: 1) Sewer Rental dtarge on property on Haa~ton Drive wherein <br />hot water heating systeffi failed awd excessive cater was used. Cleveland <br />Water Dept. verified this and refunded their portion. Cosmittee recoaiaends <br />relief in sewer rental chargre. <br />2) Budget and Transfer of lkppropriations to allow purchase of new police <br />cars. Approximately 90~ of the money for the police cars were transferred <br />=within the Department itself; also covered areas within other depasts <br />to cover some of their expenses; <br />3) Salaries of Elected Officials: Salary of Mayor has not been increased <br />in four years - present salary is $17,000; salaries of Law Director and <br />Finance Director have not been increased in two years - present salary is <br />$13,000; salaries of President of Co~a-cii and Council Meat-ers have not been <br />increased in eight years - present salary of President of Council is $2500.; <br />salary of Council Members presently is $2,000. Committee recowmends <br />increase in salaries for Elected Officials for term beginning 1974 as <br />follows: Mayor - $21,Ot10., Law Director - $14,500., Finance Director - <br />$14,500., President of Council - $2,400., Council Members - $2,500. <br />Mr. West, Chairman Building, Zoning & Development Committee and Long Range <br />Planning Committee, reported Building, Zoning 6 Development Committee met <br />on October 12, 1972. After reviewing plans the Committee recormsenda and <br />will request legislation to approve the plats of the following subdivisions <br />for record purposes only: a) Shackelton Subdivision {corner Braxbourne and <br />Overbrook) involving three lots; <br />b) Bartelheim Subdivision (Patter Rd.) consists of making two lots out of <br />one; <br />c) Boggs Subdivision (So.
