Council Minutes of 9-19-72 -2- <br />repaired. The Company gofntod out thz lapse of time involved from the <br />report of a faultq meter until same was repaired. Com~cittee's recosewsndation <br />is that half of the overcharge be returned to the A & P Tea Co. <br />2) reviewed budget up-to-date and before the end of the year tfiers wi11 have <br />to be a balance of ropriations in hospitalization for Fire and Police <br />Depts. Overall look of proposed wages for City is runniccg true to form. <br />Gasoline and oil in Police Department is running more than what was acctici- <br />pated. <br />3) s+e request received for new police cars - Mr. Speedling will report from <br />his Committee on this. At the present time there is no monies available far <br />the amount of cars that are being requested, so the Finance CoaMdttee will <br />request an audience with the Police Chief and ask where in his budget he <br />wants to subtract to come up with the necessary monies. <br />4) in connection with ordinance an agenda requiring $30,000 for repair of <br />sanitary sewers -there is ample amount of money in Maintenance Fund to <br />cover this <br />5) re request for hospitalization under the Raiser Plan for City ~rloyees. <br />This will not be compulsory. Employees can remain under present program <br />Qr may go into the Raiser plan which is considerably che~ex. Wii1 r+~uuazt <br />legislation authorizing the City to pay portion for this hospitalisation plan. <br />6) Finance Director Gerlach informed this Committee that he has received the <br />tax rate ordinance for 1973 and a 12.2 millage.is proposed. Committee felt <br />the amount of money to be gained would not necessitate going to 12.2 sad <br />Committee would rather keep the millage the same as it is presently which is <br />12.1 <br />Mr. Spesdling, Chairssan Transportation Committee, reported the fallaaing: <br />1) Cossnittes met on Septe~rer i$, 1972 and discussed requa~st frees Safety <br />Director for four new police cruisers and one new detective car. These <br />were approved by the Committee and xeferred to Finance Cosncittee to see if <br />financing was available. Mx. Limpert reported on same. <br />2) reviewed request for a traffic signal -pedestrian light at C1ag~-e ~1. <br />and McBeth; also pedestrian signal at Columbia and Cedar Point Rd. Both <br />of these have been referred to Mr. Bierman for further fu~stigatian a~ to <br />whether or not they are really needed before Coasdttee mskes a~q rt ~• <br />3) Safety Director has requested warning flashers at the bead in t13e rid at <br />Columbia Rd. just north of Florence. Nutter of accits Dave occurring <br />because of severe bend. Committee approved this request acrd ~ferred ease <br />to Finance Committee to see if money is available to buy warnitsg fluters. <br />4) Bus Line financing was also discussed. Cottnsittee received a financial <br />report as of August 31, 1972. Bus Line fs at this point rcmrniztg a deficit <br />of. $10,000. Compared to August 3I, 1971, Bus Line was rua~tiug a deficit <br />of $35,000. Will be getting into Fall business which is usually better. <br />There was brief discussion as to whether or not plans should be started for <br />ordering of new busses or gossibiy a nao- housing facility for the misses <br />with federal grant participation. This was tabled for further discussion <br />at future meetings. <br />Mr. West, Chairman Building, Zoning & Development Committee and Long Range <br />Plataccing Coaecittee reported the fallowing: <br />B.Z.&D. Cc>~ittee taet on September 11, 1972 and Septettttber 18, 1972. First <br />meeting was with residents of West 230th St. and West 231 St. to dist~ss <br />and review with them the Barclay Square Development that has been proposed. <br /> <br />
