Council Minutes of 9-19-72 -3-
~rr At that meeting there were about 8 items that Comr~i.ttee wished to discuss
further with developer ~fiich was dine at the September 18th meeting. Mr.
West requested of the Mayor that a traffic survey be made for this development,
and would like the Safety Farces to give the Committee an exprssaio~a of the
traffic pattern that is proposed here at the entrance off Lorain Rd. and one
off from Mapleridge and 231st St. Developer has agreed to draw up a proposal
for the drainage which is a critical item in this and every other area. There
must be a retention basin there - it is•a question of how it will be laid out
and located so that it is not a problem to the residents. Next meeting with
the residents will be October 23, 1972, unless all of the work is colleted
prior to that time. If this should happen a meeting will be scheduled and
residents notified of same. Goeamittee has an agreement with the developer
which will specify that construction trucks will not use hest 230 3t. or
We~,L 231 St.
Mr. Weet gave fallowing report of Long Rage Planning Committee: Committee
met on July 24, 1972, and it was agreed that a list of projects that need to
be taken care of itt the City should be developed. Follaaing projects are
listed is the order of priority that Committee felt they have:
1) Storm Drainage -project is already subject to an areawide engineering
study and recommendation will have to wait the completion of this study.
Since Com®ittee meeting on July 24th, a five mill levy has been proposed
far the November ballot to see haw residents feel about setting moneq aside
for storm drainage.
2) Solid Waste Disposal - It is the Committee's recommendation that this must
be handled in a large area. In past years proposals have been investigated;
contractors have disused this project and the findings have always been that
North Olmsted did not have enough trash and solid waste to justify an official
and acanomical plant. Even if the whole west side area was included there
would just barely be enough to justify a plant. Therefore, Committee feels
this is a county wide effort and the Clerk of Council was asked to write to
the County Co~aomi.saioners and ask what plans they have far solid waste dis-
posal throughout the Catttty and particularly the west side.
3} The Industrial Yark needs an improvement plans with roadways and other
iaproveasnts laid out ao that it will be ready for industry. This has been
red+ed by the Flaaning Commission. The 741 Plating Grant has been
approved and this will b@ dare with the help of Planning Commission, Citizens
Advisory Committee and Regiottai Planning.
4) Wew Fire Station which is needed and must be located in the center of the
City. Committee has asked the Mayor and Administration to make a recommenda-
t~.oa as to where this fire station should be located and hvw large, also type
of design.
5) Recreation areas -such as swimming, ice rink, tennis couxts, and all other
type of recreation for adults and children should be brought up again and
promoted on an overall basis and not an a "piece meal" basis.
6) Street Lights - a proposal must be developed to provide sufficient stmt
lighting in the City fox the safety of residents. This will probably require
a special millage on the ballot to be set aside for such lights.
7} Street Repairs and Improvements throughout the City. Committee's recommea-
dation is that the Streets & Drainage Committee establish a priority of the
streets that need major improvements sad those that need repairs.
8) A Civic Community Center is definitely needed and one has already bees
designed and recommended by a consulting firm. This recommendation needs to
be updated and brought up again for consideration.
~.,,,,.... ,, ,., <r y. ti
