Council Minutes of 11-7-73 <br />-5- <br />Mrs. Saringer expressed her disappointment regarding the defeat of Res. No. <br />73-125 in support of H.B. 869; and believes this will come to pass on a State <br />Level anyway. <br />Under New Business: <br />Mr. West moved a Resolution of Council that in view of the President`s message <br />on energy and extreme tight situation of energy that the Mayor be asked to <br />establish a 50 MPH speed limit for city automobiles when outside of the City, <br />and, further, the Administration make a study and set as a goal the savings of <br />7~ in the use of energy in the City with the exception of the Bus Line. Zn <br />addition, to establish a campaign including advertisements to encourage people <br />to ride the bus and/or to form car pools. Motion seconded by Air. Speedling. <br />Affirmative vote: Boehmer, Giesser, Lampert, Saringer, Speedling, West. Motion <br />carried. <br />Mr. Speedling requested Law Director to prepare an amended contract to become <br />effective 3anuary 1, 1974, for Bus Lim for North Olmsted and City of Fairview <br />Park, changing the zones and fare structure. <br />Air. Lampert requested legislation for repairs to fire truck at No. 2 Station. <br />Service Director Caster commented that notification has gone to all Departments <br />of the City to cease idling all vehicles if at all possible. Also, the buses <br />will not be warmed prior to the runs in the morning come the cold weather. <br />Mr. West inquired if application to Federal Government is in process because <br />with increased ridership there is a dire need for more buses. Mr. Speedling <br />stated Service Director Caster is gathering information on what is required. <br />Service Director Caster stated there is a study on now and explained the present <br />fuel allocations. Mr. Speedling commented there are at least 9 old pieces of <br />equipment that need to be replaced and if nothing else the newer equipment could <br />save fuel in being more economical to operate. <br />Mr. Lampert moved to excuse absence of Mr. Prokasy, seconded by Mr. Giesser. <br />Affirmative vote: Boehmer, Giesser, Lampert, Saringer, Speedling, West. Motion <br />carried. <br />Mr. Lampert announced he will not be in attendance at next Council Meeting - <br />will be on vacation. <br />Mr. West moved for ad3ournment, seconded by Mr. Speedling.
