Council Minutes of 3-19-74 _3_ <br />Mr. Wilamosky, Chairman Intra Governmental Relations b Legislation Cos~aittee, <br />reported Committee met on March 7th. All members present, also Council~rowan <br />Sharpe. Committee had inquiry as to urgency lighting in offica buildio~. <br />On January 10th Committee requested Board of Building Cede Appeals reisw Section <br />1357 of Codified Ordinances and cake re lotions daal.iag with smergencyr power <br />and lighting. Board reported back to Coemi.ttee their redatie~s. Committee <br />reviewed same and requested legislation to add a new sub-section to Chapter 1357 <br />that will require emergency power and Lighting in office buildings; <br />2) Coi~ittee further discussed teat of legislation that would require the upkeep <br />of unoccupied cammerciallbuainess buildings free of ha$ards and in safe condition. <br />It was the consensus of the Committee that legislation should be drafted and in- <br />troduced to Council. <br />Mrs. Sharpe, Chairman Public Safety, Health & Welfare Committee, reported <br />Committee met and reviewed following: l) application for a new D-6 persd.t for <br />J & B Lounge, 25857 Great Northern Shopping Center. Committee has no objections <br />to this application; <br />2) in receipt of letter from Mr. Hamill, Chairman Board of Zoning Appeals stating <br />Board Meiners suggestion to Safety Committee which referred to Item 3 of minutes <br />of Board of Zoning Appeals dated Fsb. 6, 1974. Suggestion was - one more delineator <br />be installed closer to drive and one street light be installed on utility pole. <br />Mrs. Sharpe was advised by Safety Director Carnahan that the light has been <br />ordered and one more delineator will be installed. This was reported back to <br />Mr. Hammill; <br />3) received from Safety Director Carnahan letter stating three 7700 lu lights <br />and one upgrade from 4000 lu to 77fl0 lu have been ordered for Country Club Blvd. <br />Also, street light at corner of Curtis and Plumsood is being checked by C.E.I. <br />engineering and as soon as rightrof-way has been received, the light will be <br />ordered. <br />Mr. West, Chairman Transportation Committee, reported Committee amt twice since <br />last Council Meeting and reviewed following: 1} discussed with residents proposal <br />in petition submitted to Council for a traffic Iight at Ranchview. Have agreed <br />to take further time and traffic study. Messrs. Limpert and hest spent time on <br />March 16th checking traffic and will check more along with the Safety Director <br />to determine the need for the traffic light. When traffic study is complete <br />Committee will meet with residents; <br />2) Committee met with residents who submitted petition to remove "no left turn" <br />sign and allow left turns onto Mill Rd. off from Dover and onto Sparky Lane off <br />from Dover. Committee agreed to check with County to find out where they stood <br />with regaxd to widening Dover Center Rd. from Sparkp Lane south to Lorain Rd. <br />thereby installing a left turn lane. The Acting City Engineer has checked with <br />the County since the meeting and County has advised they have written a letter <br />pertaining to this matter. So far letter has not been received and Mr. West is <br />unable to report what letter states; <br />3)Committee met and discussed finances of bus line; then met with Bus Driver <br />Committee and went over their requests for past raises; additional hospitalization <br />and uniform allowance. An agreement was reached and Bus Driver Ccxsaf tt~ has <br />discussed same at a meeting with the Bvs Drivers. Legislation will be requested <br />to raise the bus drivers and mechanics salaries by 30~ per hour. There will be <br />an increase in hospitalisation; also an addition to uniform allowance; <br />4) Reviewed ordinance passed by the City of Farivew at the request of Council of <br />last year for increasing the fare by 5~ in Zone C; thereby making Zone C and <br />
