Council Minutes of 3-19-74 -4-
B all one Zone. Legislation to make this adjustment is on agenda. This adjustment
is in lieu of the City of Farrview subsidizing student fares as the City of North
Olmsted is doing. Fairview prefers to go the route of asking bus riders to pay
5G more. Adjustment does cover a small section of North Olmsted - Ciague Rd -
East, but Committee could find no way of getting around this. Mr. West further
commented that he understands Lorain Cleveland Bus Line raised their fare 10~ per
ticket. North Olmsted is holding off on any increase. If cost of living keep$
on going as it is and with additional money to be paid to bus drivers, an adjust-
ment will have to be made. City is fortunate that the fuel contract does not
expire until July 1st. Therefore, at present City is not paying additional for
fuel;
5) Committee discussed preliminary request from Federal Government for a Grant
to pay for two-thirds of the cost of 16 new buses. As soon as that is submitted
and it is ascertained who the person is to talk to in Washington, a trip will be
taken there to try and speed up getting such a grant. At that time Committee will
have abetter feel as to cahat should be done in way of adjustment on bus fares.
People Addressing Council:
Mr. Charles Miner, 24834 Lorain Rd., stated he was appointed to Advisory Board -
Council on Nutrition and Aging - formed under Board of County Commissioners.
