Mr. West pointed out it now takes 15 minutes longer than it
did previously and questions why we should put up with this lessening of service;
commented on "expresses" and definition of ex~-resa runs in the contract and feels
this is an issue that will have to be faced; feels cutting off mini runs is another
big point - we have erase that tbap are just eliminating -and feels this is grossly
unfair when you atop to consider that in some areas they have a "dial-a--bus"
and we cannot justify going into a subdivision. Mr. West stated he hogea everyone
will continue to work and put prassLre on to make sure that the people in the City
of North Olmsted who are used to A-1 bus service do not lose it cos~letely:
Discussion by Mr. Beaty, Mrs. Beringer and Mr. Went and Mayor Christaaa ensued.
Mrs. Beringer stated she had an opportunity to take advantage of the outdoor
swimming pool at Rec Center and is concerned about the tree in the vicinity of
the pool and would like to know if our Fire Department gave approval of the big
trees that are is the vicinity of the pool. Mayor Christsaa stated he is not sure
if our Fire Department even considered it. Referred to the large Oak and it was
felt that we would try to keep it if at all possible. Feels it would be inc~rbent
upon the guards to make sure in case of a thunderstorm to clear the pool. The tree
can be taken down but w+ou].d hate to sae it go. Mr. West comdanted that lgi~tning
arrestor rods can be put in the area and this is worth checking into. ?hc. Goggin
stated he was concerned about that tree as far as how durable and well it was and
prior to the opening the 1~ec Canter Managoement went to great l~gths to take all
limbs off the tree that looked the least bit suspicious; thinks they did a great
job and have retained soae of the beauty of the tree as well as having soda shade
in the area. Discussion continued.
Mr. Goggin asked Mr. Beaty if his Committee has reviewed Mr. Goggin's request
with respect to the sunken shopping center by Great Northern Blvd. Mr. Beaty stated
he reported out on this at last Council Meeting: the Safety Director was to get
with the owner of the Shopping Cuter and see what he could work out with him.
Ideally we canted the owners to do it; if we do not get favorable results se will
have to da posting oursel~s but Mr. Beaty has not had a chance to get back with
Safety Director Carnahan and he has not reported back yet to Mr. Beaty.
~„ ~»,,. .
