Council Minute: of ~-4-76 <br />-2- <br />Heating will be held May 10, 1976, 7:30 P.M., City Hall, nand urges Council <br />to attend and if there is a Member who cannot attend to please notify the <br />Clerk beforehand; <br />3) scheduled a Streets & Drainage Cos~sittee Heating on May 15, 1976, at 10:00 A.H., <br />City Hali, and requested the Citq 1~ngineer, Service Director and Public Works <br />Coa®iasioner to be in attendance. <br />Mr. Goggin, Chairman Recreation, Public Parks ~ Buildings, reported Committee <br />met on 4-26-76 to revise the job descriptions for the eeployeaa a# the Recreation <br />Center. Committee made minor ma~dificatiams to aeversl of then ss~ coaq~letely <br />eliminated the position of Ad~einistratiae Aa~siatant. Ord. No. 7b-26 has been <br />placed back on second reading as reflecting the eliminati~+n of that <br />position. Reaaon Committee eliminated t~ A~rinistrative Assistant pcraition is <br />Committee did not feel that the Coag-lex could afford another level of management <br />nor did they feel at this time they required it. <br />Mr. Beaty, Chairman Transportation Committee stated the Cosmittee Hiesting was <br />postponed and scheduled a Transportation Committee Heating on May 17, 1976, <br />7:30 P.M., City Hall. <br />Mr. Boehmer, Chairman Infra Governmental Relations & Legislation Committee and <br />Public Safety, Health k Welfare Committee, reported the Legislation Committee <br />met with Mr. Don Copeland, Director of Department of Resources, to discuss <br />Titles 3 and 7 funding far ~ elderly, Mr. Copeland advised that Mr. Michael <br />Winn, Executive Director of Cuyahoga Cotmty Office oa Aging, was resigning effective <br />May 1st. Director Copeland and Committee felt that this office should be taken <br />over by the County so that the City of North Olmsted will get their fair share. <br />If the City of Cleveland were to take over, they would take care of their awn <br />needs before gluing any of the money to any of the suburbs; <br />2) Regarding Public Safety, Health 6 Welfare Committee - have just received <br />notice froti the Fire Department regarding number of runs since 1974. Hr. Boehmer <br />gave following figures: In 1974 - fire call - 314; emergency calls - 977; <br />miscellaneous - 87 for a total of 1378: In 1975 - 423 fire calls; emergency calls <br />1125; miscellaneous - 86 for a total of 1634; Double runs in 2975 were 132 - <br />this was for emergency; regular in 1975 - 193; In 1976 to Hay 1st - 89 double rune; <br />regular - 58. Mr. Boehmer statsd it is h1s personal feeling and some of the other <br />Council hers that we actually do Head the second squad. There is legislation <br />on agenda tonight for one pumper and one squad; and this will be looked into <br />further and hopes everyone will agree that the second squad is ~edad. Mr. Wilamosky <br />explained the Finance Committee reviewed and had no objections to advertising for <br />bide for a pumper and one squad because there was not any substantial data at the <br />time as to how many runs were being made by the back-up and he, for one, hopes that <br />the information presented tonight is substantial enough to purchase two squads if <br />it is necessary. He feels it is important that it is first determined there is <br />a need. President Pro Tem Saringer requested Mr. Boehmer to make certain the <br />Finance Cotiseittee receives copy of the figures. <br />Mrs. Sharpe, Chairman Building, Zoning b Development Committee, scheduled a <br />B. Z. b D. Committee Meeting on May 26, 1976, 7:30 P.M., City Hall. <br />Mr. West, Chairman Environmental Control Committee, reported Committee met and <br />discussed the idea of having a private contractor pick up what is called the <br />white metals - washing machines, etc.; and there is a person who is walling to do <br />this and would do it for nothing; they are doing it in other cities at the present <br />time.
