Council Minutes of 3-2-76 -2- <br />approximately $8,000 to $10,000. Ord. No. 76-24 is for the uprgrading of ail signs <br />throughout the City. Our survey shovers 682 signs and 588 posts needed or replaced. <br />The City is to be rein~ursed 90X of the cost of $40,800 or $36,700. The <br />remaining cost of $4,100 is to be paid by the City. With the signing of the <br />agrssosat the progras gill ba approved. Mts. 8aringsr and Safety Director <br />Carnahan discussed What signs are included under Ord. No. 76-24. Mrs. <br />8aringsr asked if the City is expoctad to paq the full amount of $40,000 and <br />than get reimbursed later. Safety Mractor Carnahan stated this is true. <br />Presida~t Lim~gert stated Mr. Bs~aty is going to report out on the legislation <br />and at that tins he will plats seer into Cosssittse. <br />Mra..Saringsr, Chairman Streets & Drsnags Committee, reported Committee meeting <br />was held on February 25,..2976. i~r. Childs, Mr. Weldon and Mr. Caster setts in <br />attendance. It was decided to leave Ord. Ho. 76-14 on the agenda as it has to <br />do with the disparity that s~a3.sts betWven eater rates being charged Cleveland <br />users and suburban customers; <br />2) discussed legislation requesting the Clevelaed Regional SsWSr District to take <br />whatever steps are necessary to assuars rsspaasbility of operating and swing <br />the Reg.otial kater System, and sass is on agenda tonight. Wi11 request suspen:ion <br />of rule requiring three sapsrats readings; <br />3) will request legislation asking the State to increase the revenue to the <br />Highway Fund; <br />4) discussed legislation on agenda tonight for easements for City Line Sub- <br />division for installation amd mantensace of a water mein. Thin will be at <br />no cost to City -the developer will install same; <br />5) because of inclesant Westhsr it Was i~~ to caaduct any further smoke <br />testing far illegal sanitssy ConnecCiona. With the milder weather the program <br />will continue. Crews will follow up those people Who were found to have illegal <br />connections. This is doss by visual inspection. Those wha have not corrected <br />the problem will be sighted; <br />6) discussed undertaking a program of repairing the berms as had bean discussed <br />before. Mrs. 3aringer previously stated it would be a very costly program and <br />it was suggested to assess the propertp ow!msr for this. As Chairmen of the <br />Streets g Drainage Committee, Mrs. 8aringsr stated her opinion: Is in favor of <br />improving the harms for proper drainage; however, not to the tuns of assessing <br />the l~meawner. Thinks We are gc-ing to have to do a little at a tiros and get the <br />fob done properly.. Bars and road resurfscing done together where need be. Again, <br />thinks same forget what the priorities should be. For 18 gears sines Mrs. Beringer <br />has lived is the City wa have expwtrienced flooded basemsrts. City has one program <br />under way to try to alle~ate this problem, and feels ve should get this program <br />completed to get the vetar out of the baa~osnts. A11 efforts should be concen- <br />trated in thi: area before undertaking a new program; <br />7) discussed many other street aumd backyard flooding problems during the last <br />heavy rain, most of which hsve been checked out o~c will be in the future; <br />8) scheduled a Streets & Drainage Co®ittee Heating on March 25, 1976, 8:00 P.M., <br />City sell; <br />President Li~ert referred to item in Mrs. Saringer's report regarding the <br />progrss of repairing berms sad asked if this was her opinion or Was it the <br />feelings of the Committee. Mrs. 8aringsr stated that was her opinion -the <br />Committee did ~t make a decision. presidaa~t Lippert asked if there *Aill be <br />any action taken by Comaitt~. Mrs. 8aringsr stated Committee will have to wait <br />to nee what the Budget will allow and then the Committee will have to decide. <br /> <br />
