Council Minutes of 2-3-76 -2- <br />3) re salt situation - are mixing salt with cinders and trying to xep the <br />main arteries as clear as possible; <br />4)re chuckhole situation - a lot of streets are in a deplorable co :dition. <br />Have been trying to keep up; have been using, when it is practical 15 to 20 <br />tons of asphalt a day trying to keep the chuckholes filled, etc. <br />President Pro Tem Saringer compliaented the Service Department on ;ob they have <br />done in the past few weeks. <br />Finance Director Gerlach reported: 1) the Mayor cad Finance Directo • Gerlach <br />are working on the annual estimate of revenues and expenditures whi h will be <br />presented to Council within 45 days after the end of the year as apE ~ified in <br />the Charter. <br />Law Director Gateau reported: 1) have received in past week a propos .d settlement <br />for the Bazclay Square Case, and believes all Members of Council have also <br />received came. In turn, has prepared an: ordinance accepting that and authorizing <br />the Special Counsel to enter into this proposed ssttlaa~xtt agreement. It is <br />Law Director Gateau's uaderstauding thaC it will be placed is Cotusittce. Law <br />Director Gateau obtained a copy of the plan that was originally propoe~cl and <br />the Clerk of Coun+eil now has than in her ppsseasion; <br />2) with respect to the Burkett Suit which is one dealing with the odor from <br />the Sewage bispoaal Plant - the second week of March has been set for pretrial <br />and the case i~i11 be tried in either flay or Juns of 1976. <br />Mrs. Saringer, Chairman Streets !4 Drainage Committee, reported Coesitte: met <br />on January 27, 1976, and discussed Ord. Alo. 7b-14 objecting to the water rates <br />being charged to the suburbs by the Cleveisnd Water Department. Yt was agreed <br />that legislation would be drafted and same is on agenda tonight. <br />Mr. Goggins Chairman Recreation, Public parka & Buildings Committee, reportsdd <br />Committee het on Jxnuarq 27, 1976, and ifi addition•~ to Cosstittee rs, <br />Mr. Broader, Rec Complex Manager; Safety Dirsctar Carnahan and Finance Director <br />Gerlach were in~Atteatdanne. First item :under discdssion was Mr. B~condar's <br />request for additipne~l funds to stock the .Pro Shop. The origita3. A profit <br />of over $2,600 has been realized fot the period froh the ope~ing of the Pro <br />Shop on 11/23/75 through 1/2k176, which averages out to about ~1;3A0. per a~',nt~. <br />Finance Director Gerlach advised that all of these salsa go into the Recreation <br />Center Fund and Council must reallocate these monies. The Shop does not recycle <br />itself as far as its funds. When the funds run low Council will have to place <br />money back into that. Mr. Broader has requested that $50,000 be given for <br />additional Pro Shop monies and this will permit him to extend an inventory <br />through June. Additional allocations he has recommended are: $20,000 for <br />the Conceosion Stand and $9,200 for office supplies; <br />2) discussed the fencing of the Recreation Center property and Committee recommends <br />that we fence in the entire area abutting Canterbury Road, test Raachvew and the <br />north side of the property which rune parallel to Byron Drive. Mr. Childs has <br />worked up estimates and he will review it~rwith Committee at next meeting; <br />3) Another Meeting was bald on January 31, 1976, along with the Parka & Rscretatioa <br />Commission and the Finance Cossttee. Discussed all of the previo~saly msmtioaed <br />items and found everyone in agres~-t. Mr. Rurak, Asat. Rec Goa~lex der, <br />was in attendance; and he had. requested a salary rate change ordinance to change <br /> <br />
