Council Minutes of 1-20-76 <br />-2- <br />2) at tax closing deadline had file 23 requests for increases in assessed <br />valuation with respect.to various commercial and multi-family dwellings. <br />We have an agreement the Board of Education that they will participate ,on <br />a 50/30 basis on all of the costs with respect to appraisals and other fees <br />and over the next 11 months these various cases will be com~stg befare the <br />Board of Revision, and as they do, Hill report as to what progress we make. <br />Mr. Beaty, Chairman Transportation Committee, reported: 1) Committee met <br />January 19, 1976, along with Messrs. Zoldesy, Caster sad Weldon. Meeting <br />was primarily with regard to a letter received from the Bus Drivers Committee <br />asking an equal raise in salaries that the drivers of regional Transit <br />Authority have been granted as of February 1st. Have recommended approval of <br />a 38C per hour raise for the drivers, along with a 5.8X raise for the rest <br />of the employees with the bus system. Have amended the Agenda tonight to <br />include. these ordinances and place ease on first reading; <br />2) also at that meeting, Mr. Zoldesy and Mr. Caster spoke of the need for an <br />automobile for the bus line. A?A will pay for this car - they will authorize <br />us two cars. At this tine the bus line does not have any so the Com®ittee <br />authorized them to purchase one car for under $1,000. and in the maantiaae, <br />would like to request that we sdvartlse for bids for another car which will <br />be paid by RTA. <br />Mr. Boehmer, Chairman Intra Governmental Relations A.Legislation Committee <br />and Public Safety, Health 6 iielfare Coaueittee, scheduled a Legislation <br />Committee Meeting on January 27, 1976, 8:00 P.M., City Hall, and a Public <br />Safety, Health & Welfare Committee Meeting on January 28, 1976, 8:00 P.M., <br />with Chief Taylor and Chief Bement. <br />Mrs. Beringer, Chairman Streets & Drainage Committee, reported Committee <br />Meeting was held January 19, 1976. Also in attendance were Messrs. Childs, <br />Weldon and Caster. Along with bringing the new Chairsan up-to-date on <br />projects .from previous year, projects that might be considered for 1976 were <br />discussed; <br />2) the bills for sidewalk repair program are about ready to go out. If there <br />are objections the property owners. will meet with the Equalization Board; <br />3) re - sidewalk repair for 1976 - the Engineering Dept. is still identifying <br />sidewalks that need repair. This next list should coaq-lete the program; <br />4) re - Mill Rd. sidewalk - it is thought it would be more feasible to <br />construct the sidewalk on the south side of Mill Rd. instead of the north <br />aide. The Engineering Dept. will conduct a survey on the south side; <br />5) discussed the possibility of a turning lane at Glague 6 Lorain Rds.; will <br />request legislation asking the County to consider this project; <br />6) discussed the possibility of starting a program of repairing roadside <br />drainage ditches; concentrating on this before resurfacing roads. This could <br />be a very costly program. The Committee will decide at a later date as to whether <br />or not~to start a program such as this. flow much we can do, of .course, depends <br />on~how much money is available. Should have our final budget in a couple of <br />months; <br />7) the snake testing is about one-third completed. Our deadline was March sad <br />hopefully the Service Dept. will meet that deadline; <br />8) discussed the removal of dead trees oa Bradley Rd. The Service Dept. <br />cannot handle the cutting down of these trees because of their size; <br /> <br />
