Council Minutes of 9-6-'~
-la
sa-called job jar; would like t~ go through some of the work o~rd«rs or whatever
has been pending for the last couple of years and see what can be done to get
some of them completed.
President Lampert referred to the house oa Fitch &oarl which Wa: to be reawved
and discussed with Safety Directox R~tsarfic the condition of the lwfuse and if
it is not going to be moved can w+e make thew desolish it. Ssfaty Director goharik
reported the Building Commi.esi~er is writing d~olitioa orders sad the Daly thing
that remains is to inform the State we plan to do that.
Under New Business:
Mr. Wilamosky referred to *.:?~e lant hou~~.on the east side of Buxas Road - a possible
safety hazard - the house was originally scheduled to be moved: half the garage is
there and half is not: it has been in that condition far a considerle length of
time and would like to request the Safety Director to have the Safety Department
look into it. Had opportunity to talk to the property owner and he said r#.gbt now
he does not have a site to move it. In light of that we may bs faced with the
situation for a long time to came and does not think we should have to have that.
Mr. Wilamosky referred to an incident which occurred on Septed>er 5th: anew
ambulance came out of Station #~2 yesterday and looked at afire hydr+m-t on Surrey
Drive. It was later reported to Mr. Wila'wsky that there was a call that came in
indicating that there was tampering with that particular firs hydrant: a rescue
squad was at the scene - looked at the hydrant and drove off. Mr. Wilamosky asked
Safety Director Roharik if it is administrative policy to use a $45,t?Dt! a~ulanee
to make a service call on afire hydrant. Safety Director Koharik stated it is
not the administrative policy nor the policy of the Fire Chief to send aut the
Squads 51 and 52 to noxmally maintain fire hydrants. Usually we use tt~e old third
ambulance for hydrant repair and maintenance. Mx. Wilamosky stated it was a new
ambulance - not the reserve ambulance. Mr. Boehmer commented that eryone knows
we are short-handed in the Fire Department and he can see why they would possibly
take a squad out and check a hydrant: a lot of times they cannot send one man to
do this - especially from Station #`2 and if a call did come in they could leave
anytime. Mr. Wilamosky stated he thinks it is ludricrous to send a rescue vehicle
we have for health services - we have cars that are used by the Fire Chief and
Asst. thief that are available; snd requested Safety Directox Roharik to look
into the reason why it was ua~d. Safety Director Koharik gointed out that yesterday
was a holiday - the manpower that was available probably attended to the problem,
Mr. Boehmer moved to excuse the absence of Councilman Beaty, seconded by Mr. West.
Affirmative vote: Boehmer, Fairfield, Saringer, Sharpe, West, Wilamoskq. Motion
carried.
Mr. West moved for adjournment, seconded by Mr. Boehmex. Affirmative vote: Boehmer,
Fairfield, Saringer, Sharpe, West, Wilamoeky.
