<br />Council Minutes of 7-19-77 <br />-2- <br />and anticipate also to be working with the Safety Director on that to come up <br />with su acceptable ordinance. <br />Safety Director Roharik reported: 1) have contsct4d Mural & Sons about the swing <br />of vacant houses along the right of way far I 484. One of the houses in question <br />is scheduled to be moved tomorrow and is located at 6344 Stearns Rd. The house <br />mover advised that they have two more existing structures to be moved for which <br />they have or are expecting contracts acid expect to eve them in the near future <br />if weather permits: have been having a great deal of rainy weather and they have <br />to have a solid base where they can move a structure of that si$e: People from <br />Mural 4 Son assured Safety Director haxk that the City is being very cooperative <br />in this satter and it is other asnticipatiea in which they have to move these <br />structures through that have been causing the delay. Will continue to woxk on that <br />and hope theq will be moved in the near future; <br />2) have provided a written report to Council with respect to the stop Sign at <br />Berkshire and Alden Drives. The report is rather involved and gives some references <br />to the Ohio Uniform Traffic Code. In esamace, the report is based on vehicular <br />movement, pedestrian sovevent and the incidents of accidents in that area; end it <br />is the recomsendation of the Police Drtment that due to the low volume of <br />traffic at this intersection a multi-way stop sign not be placed at this time. <br />Mr. Fairfield, Chairman Recreation, Public Farks & Buildings, reported: 1) we <br />have been having some problems at Clague Park getting the equipment installed that <br />we have had for about a year and a half. At the Recreation Commission meeting last <br />week the people were disturbed that we have had this equiptm3nt for that length of <br />time and it is has not been placed. Mr. Fairfield wishes this mould be pursued <br />and get the equipment placed because the summer is going to be over and the project <br />is still going to be waiting. This is one of the complaints the Recreation Commission <br />had. Mr. Fairfield and Safety Director iGoharik discussed same. <br />2) Mr. Fairfield stated he has had try complaints in his area about the back end <br />of North Olmsted Park which is used by the Service Department; have had co~+laints <br />about the rubbish in the yard, etc. Thinks if it was any other person that created <br />that kind of appearance we would be citing ease. Would like to see North Olmsted <br />Park cleaned up. Mr. Fairfield asked Lan Director Gareau if North Olmsted Park <br />can be used as a Service Department. Law Director Gareau stated yes - it is <br />City property - there are no restrictict- that he knows of. <br />3) Recreation Program has gone vary well this summer in all areas: wanted to make <br />this report in absence of Mr. West. <br />Mr. Boehser stated they have started cluing the back part of the Park the last <br />few days. <br />Mr. Beaty, Chairman Transportation Committee, reported Committee met and discussed <br />following: 1) the stop sign at Berkshire & Alden: Committee was waiting crn a report <br />from the Safety Director which was given to the Committee tonight: the legislation <br />was postponed to date certain tonight for third reading; and Committee has no <br />recommendations on i^t per se other thaw the Safety Director's; <br />2) raising the pap of off duty policemen for traffic control duties: would like <br />to request legislation raising the range Eros $5. to $6. -- S7. This is for doing <br />traffic surveys for the City: haves had problems getting the off duty policemen <br />to work for the City when they can get greater pay at some of the other private <br />areas in the City; <br />3) Center turning lane on Lorain Rd. with regard to distance in front of the <br />intersections in which a person can turn.
