Council Minutes of 9-5-78 _4_ <br />At this paint, President Lippert asked if a resolution could be written in re- <br />gard to Mrs. Hi11 and her service aith Council. Mayor 3+rety~-iowski said he <br />will have it for the next council meeting. <br />Safety Director Petre reported l) announced the appof.ntsent of the new Assistant <br />Manager at the Rec Co~lex; namely, Mr. Robert Whidden. <br />2) reques~ta that Counciltrm r, CiwL.irsm of our Safety Comoittee, extend an <br />open invite°~~.on to all Cecil ors to his next Safety Cowetittee meeting. <br />The Police Chief and Nr. Petre will be here to discuss the police dmmpartment's <br />evaluation syetes ~rhich say not ba cotapi+e~ely understood by all of couercil. It <br />will give us an opportunnity to evalu~ete the systes since thssre h~ava been numerous <br />questions and it has beet called by natrss other than "evaluation". It will give <br />council the opportunity to have a such better insight into the newer and more <br />modern measuresent techniques within the departsest. <br />3) the Recreation Department, Linder the direction of Mr. Fiebig and its personnel, <br />just completed a mast successful summer rscraation program. Our compliments to <br />every member of that departssnt. <br />4) on Septead:er 9th at 11 A.M., the new jogging track will be officially apaned. <br />An invitation is extended to all council webers as well as awry resident of <br />the conmae~nity to come drn, run. if you will, or jLint stand by and watch other <br />people enjoy it. Those rho have run the track to deta, a though it wasn't <br />officially opened, have had glowing c~sents on the condition of the track which <br />is located on the 15 acres of land directly beh#.nd the Co~plex. Also, at this time, <br />will show outdoor grill and picnic tables whfh were presented by the Rec. Dept. <br />5) directed by Mr. Broader, the Recreation Complex shooed an increase in August, <br />1978, of $6,000 over Ault of 1177. <br />6) expect to advertise tl~ beginning of ne3ct week for Rec Complex roof repairs. <br />Are looking for the rasutta from the prafessicaesl testing laboratory which rri.11 <br />assist in determining not only the problem~e but the best way to go on a new roof. <br />At this time, President Lippert snaaunced that Council has added Ord. Iio. 78-125 <br />to the agenda and Mr. Wlamosky will discuss in his committee report. <br />Mr. Boehser, Chairman Transportation and Public Safety, Health and Welfare <br />Committees, reported l) vrl.11 be introducing Ord. No. 78-110 on suspension of <br />rules tonight since it is a Charter Asendment and must go can the ballot for the <br />November election. <br />Mr. Wilamosky, Chairman Finance and Long Flange Planning Gvsenittees reported: <br />1) discussed the new legislation placed on the agenda -Ord.. No. 78-12$. The <br />changes within this ordinance set up the ranges for the Department of Hunan <br />Resources and employees thereof. Basically, the changes here were presented by <br />,the Administration to g#.~ne consideration to increasing the salary, or at least, <br />the range. of the Assistant Director. in light of the fact that we do maw have <br />an interim Senior Center, the reagonsbilities increase greatly. We will be <br />looking forward to a quite extensive Senior Canter in the near future. Concur <br />with the .Administration that consideration should be given to increasing the current <br />range from $6,SOO as a loin and $8,500 as a saxisus, to $6,500 as a low and $10,000 <br />as a maximum far the Assistant Director. Will be discussing this at the nesxt <br />Finance Committee meeting, but it will be introduced and placed on first reading <br />tonight. <br />2) The Long Range Planning Comsttee met on July 24th and discussed the Landmark <br />Commission's proposal to xt-awe l~arth Opted Town SaII as an Historical Laa~dsfark. <br />The committee has ao objections, tln behalf of committee, appeared before the <br />Planning Commission on 3uly 15th sad gave a similar verbal report to the Planning <br />Commission, at which time the Plam~ring Commission stated that they too have no <br />objection. <br />..~,, ...,...- ~ ~..Y, <br />t <br />
