Mayor <br />Swietyniowski stated that this la~islaRtion is for an infiltration study, 75X of <br />which will be paid for with Fsdtral Pads. Have committed atpproxi~ttely <br />$25,000 of City funds. This is going to fairs a period of appro~d.aistely two years. <br />Mr. Beaty said the point he wants to m is tiu~t eke doesn't wit pwple to <br />leave the council meeting and say well, in two years from nwtt ws will kasow some- <br />thing. He thinks we are gang to have to stay as top of council that eouneil <br />and the. administration will ha~ne to stay on top of this situation. Mayor <br />Swietynioweki stated that he is committed to this problem and he will stay on <br />top of it. <br />Mr. Harvey Derek, West Par-1c Drive, addressed Co~eil regards the prapeerty and <br />casualty insurance for tttie City. Does not feel that the tnMe elewetkt far bidding <br />is totally adequate. Of all the specs that went out, and take advertising in the <br />papers, only one companq came in with a bid. The reason thi: o~ casgrany was <br />able to bid is they've had'the business on the books, they've done all their in- <br />spections, they've had all the informatuon and they could well bid it. Before <br />the bid opening, he requearted the Service Director to extend the tine lar#.t. <br />That was denied. Follorred up with a letter requesting it, ~ th#s was denied. <br />Understands the Board of Control awarded the contract. Aar the Law Director <br />if it is possible to re•-open this for anotr 6{? to 90 day period to find out <br />whether the City is properly spe~ndis~ the taxpa~rer's monty. If that is not <br />possible, then is it possible for it to consider some kind of legislation <br />so that the City gets a fairer type. of bidding arrangements, since this premium <br />amounts to over a milliondollara oveer a thsree yearperiod. Law Director Gareau <br />pointed out that even though the pre~k~ amounts sound staggering, a good portion <br />of the premium is paid by the Regional Transit Authority for the bus line. <br />~~... <br />
