Council Minutes of 5-2-7s -2- <br />2) regarding brush on treelawr-s, etc.: The Service Department crews that pick up <br />rubbish will be working overtime this Saturday exclusively on brush pickup to <br />try to alleviate the backlog; <br />3) as of Monday, have made. the brush pickup routes more uniform and reaffirmed what <br />the specific working hours are in the Service Department in the interest of long <br />range efficiency. As Service Director is pristariiy concerned not to seek short <br />range compromise solutions to the probieos of the City. Thinks we have to have a <br />long range solution to some of the problem that exist and have had eery goad <br />cooperation by responsible people in the Ser.~ice Department in regard to this; <br />4} the weekend of April 25th had a break-in at the Service Garage and the mechanics <br />in the Service Garage suffered either a loss of their tools or damage to the tools <br />in the amount of $1,65$.54. The City doss not have burglary coverage for City <br />property nor for employees' propsrty'on City premises. Have checked with the Law <br />Director and there is no legal basis by r,~hich the City can reimburse these employees <br />for damages. Have had as inventory prepared by the employees and would like to <br />refer same to appropriate Committee of Council for consideration of a moral claim. <br />Finance Director Brockman reported: 1) met with representative from Blue Cross <br />who presented rates to be effective gay 22nd for hospitalization coverage for <br />city employees. New rates fox a family plea will be $110.15 per month and a single <br />plan will be $44.39 per month. Over a period of a year additional cost to the City <br />will be approximately $37,004. <br />Safety Director Petre reported: 1) the remains of the building at 5858 Fitch Road <br />have been removed except for a small section which will require the use of a pickup <br />truck for removal; <br />2) the detached garage at 6485 Burns Road has been removed and that completes the <br />demolition of that property; <br />3) regarding recreation axes - axe making plans to have music in the park this <br />Summer and working with the C1e~vaeland Federation of Musicians toward selecting <br />several dates. The Federation has offered this program to the City at no cost. <br />Enact dates to be announced later;. <br />4) with respect to the Rec Complex - have been currently working with McIIonald's <br />Hamburger people on a special promotion during the month of May. Expect to reach <br />100,000 people with this promotion. Discount promotional coupons will be passed <br />out at the North Olmsted, FairwJ.ew sad North Ridgeville stores with each purchase. <br />The employees and managers of McDonalds have been very cooperative. <br />Mrs. Saringer, Chairman Streets & Drainage Committee, reported Committee met on <br />April 20, 1978. Also in attendance were Mrs. Petrigac, President Limpert, Service <br />Director Corrigan and City Engineer 2urawski and discussed following: <br />1) concrete street repair program: there is $32,900. in the budget for repair <br />by contract. On agenda tonight is legislation authorizing the Service Director <br />to advertise for bids for repair of concrete streets. Last year a list of streets <br />was drawn up; however, the contract was never entered into last year. This list <br />is to be used and to be added to that list is 3toneybrook Drive and Michael Drive <br />for repairs; <br />2) have been notified that the County will resurface McKenzie Road at no cost to <br />the City; there will also be improvements to the drainage. Legislation for same <br />in on agenda; <br />3) equipment purchases were discussed; <br />4) met with homeowners oa Maple Ridge Rd. and one from Columbia Rd. Each discussed <br />
