Council Minutes of 1-17-78 _3_ <br />opposed to salt. Service Director Corrigan discussed matter at length explaining <br />the advantages and disadvantages of both salt and cinders. <br />Mr. Beaty asked Service Director Corrigan if he had at his disposal the services <br />of a private contractor would he hags uped such servi.ees this past ~re+ek to assist. <br />Service Direc'~or Corrigan stated tw givf~g rieasaras why he felt the situation this <br />past Lek did not warrant sae~e; discuse~sd pros and cons of the proposed legislation <br />as well as alternatives. <br />City Engineer Zurawski reported: 1) the south Porter Rd. Culvert Replaeemsnt <br />the plans, specifications and dacuts should be ready by the end of the month <br />and expect same to be ender constructit~n in the Spring. The estimated cast is <br />$31,400. and it is being designed by the Zngineering Department. <br />Safety Director Petra reported: 1) unfortunately many residents and children <br />have been forced into the streets during the reces-t snawstarm. A nutter of businesses <br />and residents have been notified of their reupttttsibility for snow rival; <br />2) the Recreation C©mgle~c pool has beau. closed since January 14th. 'xhis wan <br />caused by the power failure durita~ ~l~asnowstarm of January.. 8th and 9th. Safety Director <br />Petra and Gity ~:gineer Zu~ra!sski have utrtttn tits task; <br />6)the Police and Fire.I~epa~rtma~at pest ~. hate responded exaaptc~nally well during <br />adverse candititms during the past few` at~tl should be camtnectded far their <br />efforts; <br />7) arxangetnerts have baste soda to move the vacant house on Fitch Rd. to its new <br />location in Olmsted Tawztship later this week weather permitting. <br />Mrs. Saringer, Chairman Streets ~ Drainage Goaw~.ttee, reported she had scheduled <br />a Streets & Drainage Committee meeting tm Janusry 18, 1978, 8;00 P.M., City Hall. <br />Mr. Beaty, Chairman Intro Gover~ental Relations & Legislation Committee reported <br />on Committee recomotendations on the Mayor's appointments: <br />Mr. Beaty moved for the approval of Mr. Thomas Roberna to the Board of Building <br />Code Appeals to fill unexpired term of Mr. Frank Lavelle, term ending 12/31/80. <br />Motion seconded by Mr. Boehiaer. Affirmative vote: Beaty, Boehmer, Logan, Petrigac, <br />Saringer, Sharpe, Wilstt+osky. Motion carried. <br />Mr. Beaty moved Council approve appointm~at of Mrs. Marie Case to fill unexpired <br />term. of Dolores Snodgrass to Architectt~c'+q~I. &aeri>r ]bard, seconded by Mr. Boehmer. <br />Affirmative vote: Beaty, Boehmer, Logan, l~+etrgac, Beringer, Sharpe, Wilamosky. <br />Motion carried. <br />Mr. Beaty moved Council approve the appointment of Mr. Steven Schaefer to the <br />Landmarks Ctm~ission, sect>xtt~d by l~rs. Saxinger. Affirmative vote: Beaty, lloehaer, <br />Logan, Petr~.gac, Saringer, Bharpe, Wilawosl~y.
