Presid+snt of Council Linpert, Service Directar <br />Corrigan, Councilman Logan, and Superintsndent Crider were also in attendsnce. Committee <br />discussed a request by the Board of Couxtitp Comn?iseioners in regard to municipal solid <br />waste disposal. Approximately 200 tons a day is talcen to the Iandfill area in (?berlin <br />at an approximate cost of $40,000 a year. Land fill is beeoming a problsm amd in some <br />areas may be very difficult to find in Che uexC thre+e to five years. The Board of <br />County Comm3.ssioners intends to require certain praperties and c+r,ntracts wf.th a pxivate <br />operator for the construction and long term operation of a refuse @ispcasal. Before <br />they can go ahead with this proposal, they must know how manq municipalities would be <br />intereeted. They are asking far a leCter of intent. This would in no wsy bind us. <br />If, after good faith negoCiations, we fail Co agzee upoa a contract, there iai.ll be no <br />further obligation on either part. Committee maves that a letter of inteat be sent <br />to the Busrd of County Comissionere af CuqahQga County for garbage and refuse dis- <br />posal to demanstrate the m.ttual deffiire of the Citq and the Baard that a facilf:tp be <br />developed for the disposal of Norttt 02msted's solid waste. Comittee also diseusaed the location. It was <br />suggested that the receptacle could be p:Laced in thc area of the City Ha.1.1 Complex - <br />perhaps i.n the back section of the Bus Gazage. Mx'a. Petrigac moved that a xecepkacle <br />for collecting newspapers be placed in the area af the City Hall Comp1ex of buildings <br />with the profits from the sale of such gapsrs $oing into the Recreation Furtd• Motion <br />seconded by Mz^.
