Council Minutes of 3/2/82 <br />- 2- <br />Service Director Corrigen reported: 1) Has brought Che Finarice Committee up to date <br />relative to xeimbursement fuading by Greatet C:Levelgnd RTA; 1982 budget aI].ocation <br />will be cut $341,000 from operating and capital expense. Is ccmcerned with saving <br />as many jobe as possible, therefore has recommended that the pending legisl:tion <br />granting a cost af living increase of approaimately 12 be tsbled or not approvod by <br />Council. <br />Finance Director Boyle reported: 1) As of today, Citq has $420,000 inveeted at <br />Central National Ba.nk; $1,520,040 at Naticaal City Banlc. Instead of usiag three new <br />checking accovatr at two of the two bauks, have moved to Ameritruat for the Bus Fund; <br />Recreation Center and Pro Shop are at Centra}. National. <br />2) This psst week met with Waqne Ruhn frcne MeDonald ead discussed a few thianp with <br />Squire, 5anders aad Dempsey. 11zis yeer, will have to go to bonds on rhe ltec C,anter. <br />Mr. Ruhn feela the nrost advantageous time to do tbie would be between JuAe and <br />September. <br /> <br />Law Director Garaau reported: 1) The Supreme Court has final.ly ruled an the Ruah <br />Case and the caae ia now aver; the final ordex of the Supreme Court susta3ned the <br />City's position relative to this case. <br />2) In the last six months, there have been quite a few prabletns coilecting from <br />people who have co113ded with City fire hydrants. Thore is $3,800 outstanding on <br />four separate cases. Has prepared and signed taday, four lawsuits; plans an filing <br />three more bq the end of this week. <br />In the absence of Safety Directcrr Petre, Acti.ng Mayor Eoehmer read the follawtng <br />report: 1) Fraak Eskins af the Narth Dl.msted Fire Department has retired as of <br />February 28, 1982, after 25 years of servfce, <br />2) Four new police cars arrived February 26Ch; expects the new rad3os bq next week <br />and cars should be in service by the mi.ddle of March. <br />Mr. Logan, Chairman Traasportation Committee reported: 1) Will be reeammending that <br />Council adopt Rsso3.utioa No. 82-6, a new cgr for wse by the Mayor, when it is read <br />zonight. <br />Mr. Bierman, Chairman Recreat3on, Public Farks and Buildiags reported: 1) Committee <br />met on Tuesday, February 23rd, with Mr. Logan, Mrs. Petrigac and Mr. Bierman in <br />attendance. Committee diecu$sed, and recammende, that anp remode3ing or renovatioa <br />to public buildings be brought to and reviewed by the Recreation, Public Parks and <br />Buildings Committee. <br />2) Committee also discussed and recomnends that Council's Representative to the <br />Recreation Commi.ssion report to Counc3l through the Recreation, Public Parks and <br />BuildingaCormnittee. <br />Mr. McKay, Couacil's RepresentaCive to the Recreation Commissian, stated that he ia <br />not a aecretary for the Recreation Comaittee; does not want to reporC to that eaimnittee <br />or have his report presertte8 to Councfl by sQawne else. If Council endorses <br />Mr. Biermsn's recomendations, would ask that he he dielmissed as Council'g representative. <br />Discussion cont3aued.
