,. . <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH CtLMSTED <br />OCTOBER 4, 1983 <br />Present: President James Boehmer, Councilmen Bierman, Logan, McKay, Petrigac, <br />Saringer, Wilamosky, Woernel. <br />Also present: Mayor Robert Swietyniowski, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director Edward Boyle, Service Director Joseph Corrigan, Safety <br />Director Eugene Petre, Clerk of Council Florence Campbell. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Boehmer at 8:00 P.M. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting the <br />Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Minutes of the regular Council Meeting of September 6, 1983, were approved. <br />Minutes of the regular Council Meeting of September 20, 1983, were approved. <br />Before moving into regular business, President Boehmer announced that Resolution <br />No. 83-120, a resolution commending achievement of the Silver Award in Cadette <br />Girl Scouting, had been added to the agenda. <br />Mayor Swietyniowski reported: 1) City has received a grant, in the amount of <br />$9,035,950, for rehabilitation of the tJastewater Treatment Plant. Hopes this <br />grant will provide a solution to the odor problem as well as the treatment of <br />additional storm water runoff. <br />2) Has hired the services of the firm Wheeler and Melena, until December 31, 1983, <br />as engineering consultant for the City of North Olmsted. Will review the needs of <br />the Engineering Department to determine if a full time engineer is necessary; what <br />the functions of the department are now that the City has ,just about been totally <br />developed. <br />3) Has received a letter from George Doughty, Cleveland Port of Control, stating <br />that there will be no increase in air traffic through the extension of present <br />runways. Will provide a copy of this letter to the Clerk of Council for Council's <br />information. <br />4) Recommends the appointment of Eileen M. Traczyk to Planni,ng Commission; believes <br />all of Council received a copy of her resume. <br />5) Water line cleaning on Lorain Road has been completed; any residual rust may re- <br />main for a short period of time until the system purges itself. <br />Service Director Corrigan reported: 1) Hydro Brakes Project was awarded to Alcon <br />Construction Company; anticipates preliminary work to begin next month. <br />2) Leaf Program is tentatively scheduled to start October 17th; by the 24th or the <br />30th at the latest will have all crews participating. <br />In response to Mrs. Saringer's question about resident notification, Service Director <br />stated that cable TV will be used on a daily basis to announce the streets and sub- <br />divisions being worked on; work will be done on a rotating basis; encourages people <br />to continue to bag their leaves since this is the most cost effective method of dis- <br />posal. <br />. , : <br />. <br />, { .. _...?-.,
