. ? <br />Council Minutes of 10/4/83 <br />-2- <br />AM, Director Gareau reported: 1) Regarding the suit filed against the City of <br />North Olmsted by a condominium assoeiation, with respect to a health care facility, <br />a preliminary hearing was scheduled and postponed on two occasions. Law Director <br />has proceeded with filing a motion to dtsmiss. <br />2) Is awaiting briefs and assignments of error with respect to the Romp rezoning <br />case; will then file a motion to dismiss. <br />Safety Director Petre reported: 1) 'I'tianked Fire Chief VanKuren for the time and <br />effort spent during the pipe cleaning process on Lorain Road. <br />2) As of August 31, 1983, the Recreation Complex Pro Shop revenue was $45,256, as <br />compared to $26,143 for the same period in 1982; an increase of 73.1%. Pro Shop <br />had an excess of $10,000 in sales during the month of September. Inventory is <br />greatly reduced; urges a$5,000 fund transfer within the budget as soon as possible. <br />In response to Mr. Woerpel's request for comparable expense figures, this year versus <br />last year, Mr. Petre promised to have them for Mr. Woerpel on Wednesday. <br />Mr. Logan, Chairman Transportation Committee reported: 1) Committee has been dis- <br />cussing the use of city vehicles; will be drafting legislation to regulate, clarify <br />and define the proper use of city vehicles to avoid any perceived difficulties in <br />this area. <br />Mr. Bierman, Chairman Recreation, Public Parks and Ruildings Conunittee reported: <br />1) Last Sunday, attended an event in Metro Park Section in TTorth Olmsted, between <br />the Rocky River Interpretive Center and Frostville Museum, which is run by the <br />Olmsted Historical Society. This was a Pioneer Potpourri Day which included a <br />trail walk, candle dipping, ma.king corn husk dolls, indian dough and turke,ys <br />cooked over a spit. The two arganizations are commended for their effort. <br />Mrs. Petrigac, Chairman Long Range Planning Committee reported: 1) Council Chamber <br />Committee met September 29th: discussed the sound system. In attendance were the <br />Mayor, the architect, Mintz Construction representative, Councilman McKay and Mrs. <br />Petrigac. Committee had asked for a second quote on the sound system; agreed to <br />go with the Soundalier System at a cost of $15,136. Committee suggests the desks <br />be made of oak to match the oak molding. Asked Members of Council to look at the <br />samples of stains, fabrics and carpeting and give some input. Requested the Mayor <br />to give a report on expenditures thus far; Mayor promised to have the figures <br />available for the next meeting. <br />Mr. Woerpel, Chairman Building, Zoning and Development Committee reported: 1) Would <br />like to present the following Landmarks Commission Report: Coamission met on <br />September 15th with Service Director Corrigan in attendance. Discussed repairing or <br />replacing the historic sign which was damaged several weeks ago at Butternut Cemetery. <br />Commission wishes to replace the sign and follow up any insurance claims that ma.y <br />be appropriate. Also, reviewed plans from Robert Gaede Architects, Inc. for the <br />handicap ramp to be built here at Town Hall. Met with the architect on September 26th <br />to discuss ideas and concepts regarding the planned restoration and preservation of <br />the building. Clerk of Council will forward copies of a report from Community <br />Council's Renovation Committee to Council Members. This revort coincides with and <br />supports many of the long range planning concerns the Commission has for this <br />building and its continued use. <br />At this point, Mrs. Saringer mentioned that she would be asking for suspension of <br />rule requiring three readings on Resolution No. $3-118, relating to fihe shipment <br />of high level radioactive matter through the State of Ohio, since shipments appear <br />to be imminent.
