Council Minutes of 6121/83 _q_ <br />Mr. Woerpel, Chairman Building, Zoning and Developaent Committee reported: <br />1) At the June 14th Plsnning Commission meeting, a propoaal was heard from <br />Romp brothers to rezone the aoutherly abutting portion to Danny Boy's site <br />from exiating zone of C Reaident Single to Retail Buaiaess General. Planning <br />Commission unanimously rejected the proposal. Attorney €or Romp brothers was <br />told hia reeourse would be to come to Council or to the BZD Committee. BZD <br />Comunittee will meet this coming Thuraday; anticipated attendaact by the residents <br />in oppoaition to thia reqneat as well as Roaap brothera and attorney. Attarney <br />called today and stated he will be in Washington, D.C. and cannot attend BZD <br />Meeting. GTants to make sure the pubiie is aware tlet this propoasal raill not be <br />on the agenda ao they will not attend the meeting Thursday to no avail. <br />2) Ordinance No. 83-36, amending Section 1195.01 of the Zoning Code entitled <br />"Height Regnlations" of Title Fifteen entitled "Limited Industry/Industrisl Park <br />Diatrict", haa had two readings of Council; was rejected by the Planning Commieaion; <br />by a two tv one vote, BZD Commt.ttee recoffiended Council not approve; Mr. Woerpel <br />moved Council table Ordinance No. 83-36, second bp Mr. Biennan. Ro11 call on <br />motion: Affirmative vvge: Bierman, Logan, McKay, Woerpel. Negative vote: <br />Petrigac, Saringer, Wilamoaky. 4 Aye - 3 Nay - Motion carried. Ordinance No. <br />83-36 tabled. <br />3) Busineaa Park Development Committee met June 16th; wanted Council to know that <br />this committee is functioning and continufng to meet. <br />4) Landmarka Commission met June 16th and again last night to interview architects. <br />Previously, Commission reviewed several proposals to determine who would be person- <br />ally intervfewed. Last night, the Commission agreed upon a choice and has for- <br />warded its recommendation to the Mayor for subsequent action and the sigaing of a <br />contract to get the project underway. <br />5) Landmarks Commission alao discuased the knocking dawn of historical marker <br />at Butternut Ridge Cemetery. Commission requests the City to purstte replacement <br />of the marker rather than attempting to fix it and file an insurance claim for <br />payment. Some 15 hedges were also damaged at this time. <br />Mr. McKa.y, Chairman Environmental Control Comtnittee aa well aa Public Safety, <br />Health and Welfare Committee reported: 1) Parks and Recrestion Commission Meeting <br />was held on June 14th. Dr. Bak.anyi reported that AT080 will preaent an in house <br />recogn.ition of its players on Satuxday, Juae 25th. Sponaora of the July 4th tourna- <br />ment are NOSO and Wendy's; parking will be on the north aide of Bradley Road, <br />next to the leaf piles. Hot Stove is eery pleased with the condition of the fields; <br />have atarted a new Farm League for boys 6, 7, and 8 years of age. CETA has provided <br />the City with aummer help - 28 workers and 3 supervisors, who will be working on <br />the bike path, in the playgraunds and with the handicapped. Schaol Baard will <br />select a student from Student Council to attend Rec Commission meetings to provide <br />input. Skating pro, ,Teff Marshall, has resigned; his brother is to be interviewed <br />to replace him. Income from the Rec Center for May was $66,503.20 as compared to <br />$52,515.81 last year. Cancession net profit was $1,703.49; Pro Shop net profit <br />was $336.72. Following itema have been purchased or money eneunbered: tennis <br />vacuum, $1,500; caah register, $309.95; therapeutic ladder, $456.25; rental ska.tes, <br />$2,100; total under buciget waa $633.80. Repairs to the condenaera was $14,014, <br />over budget by $2,014. Spruce 3chool backstop was $1,257.13 - uader budget by <br />$242.87; locker room sta11, $1,037 - under budget by $163; lighting, $646 - under <br />budget by $554. Total over budget was $1,054.13; equipuent purchase was minus <br />$633.20. <br />2) Environmental Comaittee and Finance Committee met June 13th to discuss rubbish <br />pickup at condominiums, Ordinance No. 83-40. Service Director provided the follow- <br />ing figures: BFI now services 513 unita in condom3.niums; rubbish ia placed on tree <br />lawna. 840 units now use container service, cenrrally located and picked up by <br />private haulers.
