Ordinance
No. 83-63 adopted as amended.
In view of the fact that Ordinance No. 83-16 passed tonight, Mr. Woerpel presented a
copy of his financial disclosure statement to the Clerk of Council.
Mr. Wilamosky asked that proper security measures be taken to insure the safekeeping
of all financial disclosure statements.
Mr. Bierman reported, with respect to the fingerprinting of young people, that at the
preschaol registration on April 30th, youngsters were fingerprinted by their parents
with the help of gre-school PTA. Also, on August llth, 12th, 13th and 14th, the Chamber
of Cotmnerce will be fingerprinting any young child at the Great Northern Shopping Center.
Mr. Logan had some objection to this until he was assured that this is strictly a
voluntary action by the parents.
Mr. Woerpel pointed out that at the last Council Meeting, Mayor Swietyniowski had
promised to provide Council with a complete compilation of the monies expended for the
new City Center. He has not been provided with this report as protnised. Mayor replied
that he would be sure Mr. Woerpel received one, as well as all of Council. Mrs. Petrigac
stated that she had received a report but it was not the promi.sed detailed one. Mayor
replied that the architect is working on a detailed expenditure sheet w'hich will show
exactly where the City stands and he would forward copies of this expenditure sheet to
all of Council.
Under New Business:
Mrs. Saringer requested that the Mayor provide recommendations for the various vacancies
that need to be filled. A vacancy exists on the Planning Conms.ission; another on the
Cable TV Advisory Coffinission and also on Landmarks Commission. Mayor replied this was done by the Engineering Department, the architect and
the engineer working for the architect. Mrs. Petrigac stated that Pick-n-Pay was made
to put in coated pipe; the City is installing uncoated pipe. Why? Mayor repl.ied that
all material provided meets speeifications. Does nat know what kind of pipe is being
installed but will find out and get the information back to Mrs. Petrigac. Mr. McRay
stated that some pipe is wrapped to prevent eiectrolysis from deteriorating it when
the soil has a high clay content. He has seen unwrapped pipe in a sandy soil in
Cleveland that has lasted over 30 years. The type of soil seems to be the criteria for
coated or uncoated pipe.
; Mr. Logan asked how many fema.les are employed in either the Police Department or Fire
Department or perhaps in a policy making role, outside of City Council, in the City of
North Olmsted. Mayor replied the Civil Service Exams are open to anyone who wants to
take them. A lot of women applicants never reach the top three.
