Council Minutes of 5/17/83 <br />-2- <br />2) Has wzitten the City of Cleveland coneerning the 3% retention on sewer billing. <br />Under the new contract imposed last year, they would withhold 3% o£ everything billed <br />for delinquent accounts. Thia amounts to $23,000 for the last two billings; City's <br />write-off for bad debt during this period was $500; have asked for the release of the <br />$23,000. <br />Law Direetor Gareau reported: 1) City had a case appealed from the Zoning Board of <br />Appeals dealing with an irregular lot in Timber Trails, which abuts Tinber Ceve. A <br />temporary restraining order hearing was held yesterdap wherein the abutting progerty <br />owner sought to have the City restrained from issuing a building permit and Mr. Ream <br />from building on that lot. Judge I.awther refused to issue the temporary restraining <br />order so presumably the permit wi11 be issued and the construction will cosomence. <br />Mr. Logan, Chairman Transportation Committee, explained that he had not scheduled any <br />committee meetings since he has been on jury duty for two weeks and working evenings <br />at his full time occupation. <br />Mr. Bierman, Chairman Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings, reported: 1) Many <br />residents from West Ranchview appeared at the May lOth Recreation Commission Meeting <br />to voice their strong objectians to the proposed motorcross bike trail on the east <br />side of the Recreation Eamplex property. <br />Mrs. Petrigac, Chairman Long Range Planning Committee reported: 1) Attended the Public <br />Hearing for Comenunity Development Block Grants. A few of the suggestians were: an <br />addition to Fire Station Number One; hausing for senior citizens; a place for Horizons; <br />rehabilitation of Town Hall; purehase of property along 1480 next to what is kn.own as <br />"Kiwanis Park"; Canterbury Road resurfacing; Brookpark Road signalization; Columbia, <br />Fawn and Roae Road traffic signal; Clague Road culvert; sanitary sewer rehabilitation; <br />etc. Long Range Planning Comcnittee wi11 be meeting on Wednesday, June lst, at 7:30 P.M. <br />to prioritize the projects for submissioir to Council. Council must vote on these <br />projects at the regular Council Meeting on June 7th in order to meet the deadline for <br />CDBG. Has invited Mr. Schultz froia Kiwanis to attend the next meeting of the City Land <br />Use Committee to review the proposal he has presented to purchase land. <br />2) Thursday, May 19th, at 9 o'cloek, Long Range Planning Committee will meet with the <br />Landmarks Commission to discuss suggested uses for Town Hall. <br />3) Will be asking for suspension of rule requiring three readings of Resolution PIo. 83-66. <br />Resolution needs to be approved tonight and attached to the grant proposal from the Ohio <br />Historic Preservation Office for matching funds. <br />4) Council Chamber Committee will meet tomorrow at six o'clock to discuss a letter from <br />an interior decorator, financing, and other matters pertaining to the new City Center. <br />Mrs. Saringer, Chairman Intra-Governmental Relations and Legislation Committee reported: <br />1) Committee met Ma.y 9th and discussed amending the ordinance on the frozen dessert <br />peddlers. Section E was amended to read they must secure a"food establishment permit" <br />from the Coimty. Also, a new 5ection H was added to require the peddlers to have a <br />minimum of $300,000 insurance for bodily injury and property damage. Will ask for sus- <br />pension of rule requiring three readings since permits are already being applied for. <br />Mr. Woerpel reminded Mrs. Saringer that `ahen another meeting is scheduled, there is a <br />vacancy on the Landmarks Coumission which needs to be filled by a Council appointment. <br />Mr. Woerpel, Chairman Building, Zoning and Development Committee reported: 1) A meeting <br />41 was held on Wedneaday, May llth, with members of the BZD Committee and residents of <br />Timber Trails, or Meadowbrook, as it is now called. Members of Council present were <br />President Boehmer, Mrs. Petrigac, Mr. Wilamosky and Mr. Woerpel. Residents present were <br />Mr. Lynn Maximuk, Mr. and Mrs. Archibald, Mr. Kipp, Mr. and Mrs. Bassett and Mrs. Yanik. <br />
