MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MAY 3, 1983 <br />Present: President James Boehmer, Councilmen Bierman, Logan, McKay, Petrigac, <br />Saringer, Wilamosky, Woerpel. <br />Also present: Mayor Robert Swietyniowski, Finance Director Edward Boqle, Safety <br />Director Eugene Petre, Service Director Joseph Corrigan, City <br />Engineer Ronald Zurawski, Clerk of Council Florence Campbell. <br />Minutes of Council Meeting of April 5, 1983, were approved. <br />Minutes of Council Meeting of April 19, 1983, were approved. <br />President Boehmer announced that Ordinance No. 83-31, an ordinance adopting a new <br />and revised Section 161.03 of the Codified Ordinances entitled "Employee's Vacations: <br />Exceptions", was being withdrawn as well as Ordinance No. 83-40, an ordinance author- <br />izing the Director of Public Service to advertise for bids for the removal of trash <br />from condominium properties located within the City of North Olmsted. <br />Ma.yor Swietyniowski reported: 1) Presented a proclamation to Doctor Nancy Truelson, <br />designating the week of May 1st through May 7th, 1983, as North Olmsted Computer <br />Education Week. Dr. Truelson introduced Mr. Graham Smith, President of Idorth Olmsted <br />Boosters. <br />2) Announced May 19th as Senior Citizens' Day in North Olmsted and invited senior <br />citizens to vist the Senior Center and Join in the celebration. <br />3) Last Friday, had met with representatives from Christ the King Comnunity, County <br />Commissioner, State Representative Rocco Colonna, to review the water pressure needs <br />for Christ the King Community Complex. Present flow is 750 to 800 gallons per minute; <br />full operation needs are 3,000 to 4,000 gallons per minute. Reported on the various <br />options discussed to solve the water pressure problem including cleaaing and reiining <br />the 12 inch Lorain Road water line; using Community Developmeat Block Grant Funds; <br />using amended Senate Bill No. 313, the Excess Liquor Profits Bill, etc. <br />4) Announced a meeting on Mbnday, May 9th with Jack Buckner of the Federal Mediation <br />Office and Police and Fire negotiators, at 9:30 A.M. <br />5) Coamiunity Block Grant Public Hearing is tomorrow night at 7:30 P.M., at Senior Center. <br />6) Received a letter from the Illuminating Company reporting that all PCB capacitors <br />have been removed from utility poles in North Olmsted. <br />7) Figures covering expenditures thus far on the new Administration Complex are available; <br />will be forwarded to Council. <br />8) New electric rates have increased approximately 13.89; as of 1984. <br />Mr. WilamASky requested a copy of the summary on costs and funding on the water line; <br />Mayor stated figures would be provided. <br />Service Director Corrigan reported: 1) City negotiating team has had a prelininary <br />meeting with Local 78, AFS(ME, regarding renewal of the contract which expires July 19, <br />1983, covering Service Department employees. Will be meeting on May llth and will <br />keep Council advised of any significant developments; welcomes any Council input. <br />2) Spoke with Contractor Limpert relative to the Woodpark/Sanders Lane area. Mr. Limpert <br />is interested in furnishing information to the City and hopes to complete his site survey <br />in the near future, probably in the next week.
