r A <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MARCH 15, 1983 <br />Present: President Pro Tem Yvonne Petrigac, Councilmen Bierman, McKay, <br />Saringer, Wilamosky, Woerpel. <br />Also present: Mayor Robert Swietyniowski, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director Edward Boyle, Safety Director Eugeae Petre, Service <br />Director Joseph Corrigan, City Engineer Ronald Zurawski, Clerk <br />of Council Florence Campbell. <br />Absent: President Boehaser, Councilman Logan. <br />Meeting was called to order bq President Pro Tem Petrigac at 8:10 P.M. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting the <br />Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Minutes of Council Meeting of March 1, 1983, were approved. <br />President Pro Tem Petrigac announced that Ordinance No. 83-21, establishing and <br />fixing the compensation for aZl Council at-Large Members for the term of office <br />commencing January 1, 1984, and ending December 31, 1987, as well as Ordinance <br />No. 83-22, to make appropriations for current expenses and other expenditures for <br />the City for the year ending Deeember 31, 1983, had been added to the agends. <br />Also, Ordinance No. 83-17, appropriating $105,000.00 for.engineering to improve <br />water service in various areas of the City, and Ordinance No. 83-18, suthorizing <br />the Mayor to enter into an agreement with Michael Benza and Associates for ttte <br />purpose of providing engineering services to improve water pressure and flow in <br />various sections of the City by cleaning and relining various water lines, had <br />been removed from the agenda. <br />Mayor Swietyniowski reported: 1) Received notice that North Olmsted will be <br />awarded $25,000.00 from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for a Litter <br />Control Program which will include the purchase of litter receptaeles for use at <br />sheltered transportation stops and recreational areas throughout the comnuaity. <br />The grant application for this program was prepared by the I.itter Control and Re- <br />cycling Advisory Council which was formed for the expressed purpose o€ pxeparing <br />a successful application for these funds. Especially thanked Chairman Desa McKay, <br />Members Julia Brown, Paul Wise, Police Chief Taylor and Dan Dufala as well as <br />Administrative Assistant Mary Slama who worked on the committee. Legislation is <br />being introduced this evening, authorizing the execution of an agreement with the <br />Department of Natural Resources in order to receive the grant funds. Because ex- <br />ecuted copies of the agreements must be returned by April lst, would ask Council <br />to pass the ordinance under the rule of suspension and with the emergeacy clause. <br />2) In a cooperative program with the City of North Olmgted and the North Qlmsted <br />Chamber of Comanerce, is proclaiming the week of April 24th through April 30th as <br />Clean Up North Olmsted Wcek. The Chamber of Conmp-rce will sponsor its annual <br />"Project Pride" campaign which includes a contest to select the business which has <br />made the most significant improvement in appearance over the past year; wi.ll ask <br />each Member of the Chamber to accept a site or building for s complete clesnup. <br />City crews will make a specfal effort to perform the annual Sgring clesuup of <br />City properties, including street cleaning and hedge triuening. Residents are en- <br />couraged to join the City and business community bp cleaning up their own property. <br />April 30th has been designated as "Clean Up Ohio Day".
